The Official 'Trying to Find a Specific WAD' Thread

I remember this one WAD that was styled after PSX Doom visuals-wise, and it had the Doom logo from the 2005 film as its M_DOOM graphic. Unfortunately that's all I remember.

So i'm looking for a map that i saw quite a while ago (maybe years even). But i cant find it..

I remember a small sequence where the player is in a section with stone walls (greenish) as textures and there is the original sprites with marines on poles (upper torso etc.) and what sets it apart is there is screaming, i guess from the marines. It gives the level quite a erring feeling.

And that's all i remember, not much to work with but does any of you know the map i'm talking about?

I recently had a memory of a somewhat dubious custom level I played back when I first discovered source ports in the early 2000s, but can't remember the name of.

It would have probably been either for Doom Legacy or ZDoom, and I recall the level started in a crashed ship of some kind absolutely surrounded by custom enemies. Ridiculous ones too: helicopters, AT-STs, Chaingunners riding on Arachnotrons, all sorts of nonsense. I recall there were custom weapons, and the soundtrack was the Beverly Hills Cop theme.

I have no recollection of it being any good exactly, but I do remember being impressed by the sheer quantity of custom assets. Anyone recall what this was?

Maybe All Hell is Breaking Loose?

No unfortunately. It was far more of a "massive open area with hundreds of monsters" type mapsets, from what I recall.

Although the Arachnotron Jockeys I definitely recognize from this other wad, so assuming those were original to All Hell is Breaking Loose I can assume it came out afterwards and borrowed the sprites. That came out in 1999 so if this was something I found in the early 2000s that would make sense timeline wise.

Beyond Reality? It definitely has the Chaingunner/Arachnotron monsters.

(actually, no it doesn't, it just has the two-headed chaingunner. Very similar vibe, though.)

Thanks for the suggestion! The wad I remember would have been about ten years earlier than Beyond Reality though.

My hunch is that it was probably a Doom Legacy wad, given that's what I played the most. I think I'll start trawling through some old Doom Legacy threads and see if that gets me anywhere.

What was that one Valiant parody wad that starts you off in front of a cyberdemon that you insta-kill with the pistol?

All right, this one bugs me every time I think of it, because I could swear I got it off of idgames at one point, but have been unable to find it there since, so I either got it from somewhere else, it's been removed for some reason, my search skills are failing me or the whole thing was the imaginings of an insane mind.

Anyway the WAD in question was one of those stupid sound patches that replaced the sound effects with voice lines, with the intent to be funny, but more often with the result of the soundscape becoming a mosh of a whole bunch of voices talking over each other.

The replacement I remember most vividly was the Mancubus' battle cry (when preparing to fire) being replaced with a shout of "This compensates for the size of my dick!"  I believe the pinky bite also had that same line on it.  I also fairly distinctly think that picking up health/armor bonuses produced "All my precious porn!" (or maybe it was "Ahh, my precious porn!")

I don't think all of the sound bites were sex related, some of them were just weird/nonsensical (I believe the hell knight said something along the lines of "Paul Newman's gonna have my legs broken" but I'm less sure on that one/might've been a different WAD).  I'm pretty sure it was strictly a sound pack, no levels, no graphics or other stuff modded.

Any leads?  Am I the only one who remembers this thing?

I don't remember downloading it so I don't know what type of level it was and when it was released, but I found two maps with the same title for doom 2, both from the 90s. I hope one of them is the right one. :)
