Hi all, looking for a wad I remember playing when I was a kid. I remember there being a map which featured a space rocket in a grassy outdoor area, with a techbase looking building nearby and a rock wall on the other side. I think it used stock Doom 2 textures but I'm not entirely sure. I initially thought it was a map from Hell Revealed 2 since it looked very similar to some of those opening maps. I also remember being able to raise the rocket, but that might just be me misremembering. I've tried searching for it but haven't found it yet. Anyone recognise the map?

Sounds like MAP10 from Plutonia 2.

IIRC olo_floof was an IRC alias of Lüt, and fredlol1 likely refers to Fredrik who was known for excessive overdetailing.

How long ago were you a kid? :) I mean, it would help to have a time range in which the wad was most likely released. Since you mention HR2, and a possibly rising rocket, I will wildly stab at the early-to-mid 2000s releases, something from ksutra perhaps for the former, maybe the end of map07, and for the latter, TVR map08.

How long ago were you a kid? :) I mean, it would help to have a time range in which the wad was most likely released. Since you mention HR2, and a possibly rising rocket, I will wildly stab at the early-to-mid 2000s releases, something from ksutra perhaps for the former, maybe the end of map07, and for the latter, TVR map08.

Thanks for responding but I don't think its either of those I'm afraid. TVR does have the rocket but the environment is completely different from what I remembered. I would assume the wad was made in the early to mid 2000s, possibly earlier.

i recently uncovered a wad on my pc that's an altered version of map01 from doom II, and i can't figure out where i got it from. the file name is "4578". i checked everything i could think of from the date i downloaded it, but couldn't find anything. it's also possible the date is wrong, because i definitely moved it at some point. me and a couple other people looked into it a bit more and didn't figure much out. if anyone has seen this or could help figure it out let me know.

It wasn't. That project (from when I was still in high school!) never got very far along, and I didn't know how to keep other contributors around and active, so a lot of stuff that looked promising just evaporated. My own maps for it were also a very hodgepodge "I'm figuring this out as I go along" mess that, even at the time, I was increasingly leaning towards "scrap these and start over". Some bits and pieces of it went on to inspire what I was doing for Vapordemo (and my unfinished other two Vaporware maps).
