gamul312 Posted December 4, 2012 like 486s? I don't remember that. In nightmare mode I mean. Is that dependent on CPU speed? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Reisal Posted December 4, 2012 I don't think so, their speed is just doubled and it looks like they're faster because of all their zigzagging. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
gamul312 Posted December 4, 2012 No, i mean, it's really fast in DOSBox and Chocolate Doom on my PC. Was it that fast in DOS on a 486? Looks moer than double 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Phobus Posted December 4, 2012 It probably looked more than double because of the resolution and frame rate (blocky graphics with pronounced pixels at 35 FPS or less wasn't too clear as I remember it), but in reality Demons do just run double speed on Nightmare, which is surprisingly fast, seeing as usually they don't seem particularly quick compared to the player. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Quasar Posted December 4, 2012 Depends how many times you start Nightmare how fast they go. You can make them go infinitely fast and lock up the game if you do it enough :P Alternatively you can also make them walk so slow you'd have to wait 30 minutes for one 3 feet away to get close enough to bite you. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

GreyGhost Posted December 5, 2012 gamul312 said:"v1.2 actually ran FASTER on my 486/33 with S3." (1994 post) For many PC owners the S3 Trio was their first graphics accelerator, they'd make a difference in systems that might otherwise struggle with a graphics intensive game like Doom in "high detail" mode. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
