PSX Doom Forever [Awful Mod/Hack for PSX Final Doom]

I just tried it by myself and PsyDoom REALLY runs this thing (was also mentioned two years ago by the dev, just didn't see it). LOL! What a weird experience after just having played through the entire official campaign before. Topless women as door textures right in the first level (a f'ed up version of "Virgil's Lead"). Geez! xD

 

Just thinking: With PsyDoom supporting mods, one could theoretically restore all the original textures/sprites and make this look like a regular Doom release again. However... then you just get the levels and visuals you already know, so what's the point of that? :P

I think the transparent textures were not intentional. Black color is made transparent on the PSX if I understood correctly. And since these images contain tons of black, almost everything gets screwed up. The interesting part about this is that instead of causing visual glitches, you can actually see through walls, floors and ceilings this way.

I feel like smarter authors could make good use of this "feature" to make custom maps with more wits.

I decided to use real, very high quality shotgun sprites in the project, which are almost identical to the original. Before him, the project had a sprite that reminded me of cartoon graphics and I'm glad I replaced it. I want to fix this sphere from the mod so that it is 99% similar to the original, but at the same time in high quality. Its resolution is 685x685 pixels. I'll deal with this soon. I am also building a new computer piece by piece and will buy a 4k monitor in the future to use this screen to view the textures and sprites I have made. I hope I can upload the first version of the mod this summer.

Definitely interesting. As shit as it looks, it also has a charm to it and might be fun or interesting to play.
