Brad_tilf Posted May 7, 2014 From the review: Difficulty: Straight-Up Anal Annihilation Make yourself an Irish coffee or three before tackling this one; you're going to need them. Plutonia Winds, in traditional Plutonia fashion, likes nothing more than to bombard you with Commandos, Arch-Viles and Revenants until you're cowering like a pathetic wretch in the corner of the room just wishing it would all go away. Anyway, check it out. More to come this week.... http://www.doomwadstation.net/doom_reviews/2014/pwinds/ 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
mrthejoshmon Posted May 7, 2014 I'm glad that reviews are still cropping in :D I do have a question, would you consider reviewing 15 complete maps of a WIP megawad (in other words MAP01 to MAP15 are done, the rest are not)? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Brad_tilf Posted May 7, 2014 Well, you can certainly do that but the reason I ask is this - if people want to keep up with the project, then they'll have a place to go. I think we can do a review. That should be fine, but I want to make sure people are always getting the most up to date version of the project 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Brad_tilf Posted May 7, 2014 Ya, go ahead and do that. Just, um, send me a new pm with the updated map when you have them so the one on the site is up to date 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Brad_tilf Posted May 8, 2014 From the review: Double Impact is an Episode 1 replacement for Doom/Ultimate Doom by RottKing & Ralphis, for use with ZDoom/GZDoom. I'm not gonna waste your time on this one - You should absolutely play this episode. Oh, right. I forgot, reviews aren't exactly convincing with two sentences. So, let's go into why you want to play Double Impact. Difficulty: 9 For the decades I've been playing this game, only two wads have challenged me the way Double Impact has. Monster placement, while predictable at times, is done in such a way that it doesn't even matter if it's predictable or not. link: http://www.doomwadstation.net/doom_reviews/2014/dbimpact/ Enjoy! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ladna Posted May 8, 2014 Double Impact isn't just for ZDoom/GZDoom. Do at least a little reading. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Brad_tilf Posted May 10, 2014 Doom Wad Station has been around a VERY long time. I have reviews going back to 1999 and the original site (Bob's Doom and Doom 2 site) goes back even further than that. But, this isn't about the site - it's about the wads that I reviewed way back when. I thought it would be nice to bring some of them back into the light from the dark underbelly of time. So, with that in mind.... here is the first one I chose to bring attention (back) to - It's called "Forsaken" and is for original Doom. The map was done by an absolutely brilliant map maker who went by the name of "Wolfy". You'll be glad you downloaded this: http://www.doomwadstation.net/doom_reviews/forsaken.html 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
plums Posted May 10, 2014 That first shot looks pretty cool. I'll definitely give this a run. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Brad_tilf Posted May 10, 2014 As I remember, Wolfy was one of the better mappers out there. I actually have a lot of stuff by him, and some other really good mappers. I think it would be a shame to just let them collect digital dust so I think every now I'll drag one out of the dungeon so that a new generation of players can enjoy their work 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Searcher Posted May 11, 2014 Looks great downloading now. I am ready for a little Sunday morning fun. Thanks 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
MajorRawne Posted May 11, 2014 I've been visiting the One Man Doom blogspot site, but I'll be sure to spend a few hours browsing the Wad Station this week. Whatever happened to good old Bob? But from what I've seen, you're doing a really good job. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Brad_tilf Posted May 11, 2014 Hey,long time man. Still doing reviews? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Brad_tilf Posted May 12, 2014 First, before I get to this review, I want to thank the "crew" who have been doing such a tremendous job on these reviews. Zorah, SS, Blue - thanks guys. At the pace that the review requests are arriving and the pace that we're getting them out, I think there is a really good chance that DWS could post 75 to 100 reviews this year. That's pretty solid. Oh - and not to forget you guys - the mappers. Thanks for sending them in. It's been a blast so far! :-) On to this one - a 32 level megawad called Countdown to Extinction. From the review: Countdown to Extinction is HARD. Cheap enemy placement, maps are somewhat understocked with ammo and medical supplies, and weapons are quite scarce. Mr. "I Can Hit You From Anywhere And Revive All The Enemies You Just Killed" Archvile is plentiful as well, often attacking in groups. So, it sounds like the gauntlet has been thrown down to any and all on this one. You can check out the rest of the review and the download here: http://www.doomwadstation.net/2014/ticktock/ 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Obsidian Posted May 12, 2014 Nothing about the DeHackEd boss? Bah humbug. :P Thanks for the review, much appreciated. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Brad_tilf Posted May 12, 2014 Ya, I didn't play it man. No idea. lol 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Brad_tilf Posted May 13, 2014 I have a Deathmatch megawad that the author was asking to get reviewed. Any Deathmatch players out there who might be interested? PM me if you are. Bob 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted May 13, 2014 I'm certainly down to review a deathmatch wad, DM is my favorite game mode. PM me the link when you get the chance :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Brad_tilf Posted May 13, 2014 So, in my continuing efforts to dust off some of the better maps from the long and illustrious past of the community, I bring you a map from the year 2000 by one of the authors I consider to be one of the best, and most under rated mappers ever. Enjoy! http://www.doomwadstation.net/mb/mb.html 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
MajorRawne Posted May 13, 2014 "Shitbag"? I can't think why he was not taken more seriously. Thanks for the review, am off to dowload the map now. EDIT: Something dodgy going on here. The zip file contains a pk4 file and asks me to unzip it into my Doom 3 folder. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Got the wrong one when I rebuilt the site apparently. /shrug 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
plums Posted May 13, 2014 Assuming it's the same person, shtbag was a pretty good mapper, and MIDI composer. I've played a few of his maps but not this one, so I'll check it out. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Memfis Posted May 13, 2014 Cool idea on map03 with teleporting non-alerted monsters into the map, somehow never seen that done before I think. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
