Andrea Rovenski Posted June 23, 2014 I really do not understand how this affects the kill tally. Do I have to kill every base spawn monster once? I was trying to figure this out with a map that had 102 monsters at start, I ended up killing 158 including respawns, but skipped one monster that takes a ton of work arounds to kill, and my final tally was 96%. Does killing a respawned monster not count or something? How exactly does -respawn affect the kill tally, and what do I need to do to do this right? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Revved Posted June 23, 2014 Which source port are you playing with? If it's regular Doom or PrBoom, it keeps a smart tally of how many monsters are in the level initially and adds up how many were killed after the fact at the end, so you get totals higher than 100%. In ZDoom, it pretty much recalculates how many monsters are in the level every time a monster respawns or gets resurrected, so the total doesn't go any higher than 100%. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Andrea Rovenski Posted June 23, 2014 I was using Zdoom, so I get it. Is there a way to make it behave differently or would I have to use another port? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Guest Unregistered account Posted June 23, 2014 Well, this is a well-known and well hated feature. Since it's in all ZDoom-based ports, it's in GZDoom, SkullTag, Zandronum, Odamex and ZDaemon (I think). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Andrea Rovenski Posted June 23, 2014 Ok, so say the base monster count is 102, and I kill more than 102 monsters (looking at the hud) would that qualify for a -respawn demo? Or is there some sort of value formula that would disrupt that? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Nevanos Posted June 23, 2014 As DSDA states that you have to kill 100% of the monsters or more, yes, that would quality (and all secrets as well don't forget). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Like if you have a map with only two monsters, an imp and a cyberdemon, and you kill the imp twice, you'll get 100% kill, but I'm not sure it'd really qualify. I admit it can be hard to tell in a slaughtermap with thousands of monsters, though. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

For example, in my Origwad -respawn demo, I never kill either of the barons because it's faster to wait for the imps to respawn and kill enough of them to get 100%. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
