Older versions?

Where can I get my hands on older versions of Freedoom? I've tried looking a in a few places but I haven't been able to come up with anything.

There are certainly older versions than that but some are unavailable because they mistakenly contained copyrighted material.

Is that the only resource for older Freedoom versions, or is there a way that I can get playable WAD versions of them rather than packs of files?

None of the tags before 0.6.4 actually represent the original releases, for the reason that fraggle mentioned (the repo was re-written to remove the illicit material). In fact I don't even think 0.5 and probably others build as-is, I never considered it important to make that so.

There are archives around that contain old pre-built releases, even ones older than 0.5, but just being cautious about legality, I shall avoid telling where so publicly. :)
