The Civ Posted August 6, 2014 I recently got the original version of Doom 3. I went in aware that I would need to change some .cfg files to get a 1920x1080 resolution. So, I followed all of the guides, and yet I keep running into a problem. Nothing works for me. I decided to look through the bootup log in the console, and saw this: "can't exec autoexec.cfg" I tried toying with the file, and followed at least 10 different solutions on what to put in the file, but with no luck. Does anyone here have any idea on how to fix this issue? Right now the game looks horrendous on my 1920x1080 monitor. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

andrewj Posted April 6, 2015 I think the "autoexec.cfg" message is just a warning -- in all the Quake engines it is an optional file which the user can create to override certain settings or do something a bit special. This is more likely about running an 11-year-old binary on a modern system. I don't know the fix, but you could try an updated Doom3 port like RBDoom3. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kappes Buur Posted April 21, 2015 The Civ said:I recently got the original version of Doom 3. If you have not done so already, install patch DOOM3-1.3.1.exe. http://doom3.filefront.com/file/DOOM_3_Patch;76460 Then create a file autoexec.cfg, in the base folder, with the following contents:seta r_mode "-1" seta r_aspectratio "1" seta r_customwidth "1920" seta r_customheight "1080" seta r_multiSamples "8" com_allowconsole 1 Then download and install Mind-Killer (doom3mk21.zip) for an enhanced DOOM3 experience. http://doom3.filefront.com/file/Doom_3_MindKiller;103463 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
