Kontra Kommando, Oculus+Alien isolation==buy new pants.

I'm certainly in a lot of anticipation.

Also, the reviews have been holding up for it actually being a good aliens game.

Still an 8.4 despite piss poor user reviews like this:

Well. it looked like a good game when I downloaded it. But apparently the entire system is crap. because as soon as I start the game it freezes everything and I have to hard shutdown my computer just to get it working again. GREAT JOB GUYS. maybe if I can ever get the game working I'll come back and change my opinion of it

What a dick. Just because his piece of shit PC can't play it, he gives it a 0. A score that reflects nothing of the actual game, just his individual technical issue that is absolutely his own fault. This is why I hate children.

I purchased Alien:Isolation and have been playing it with the DK2 Oculus Rift. Thus far, it is a very unique gaming experience. However, it is a bit frustrating since the HUD is not priorized for VR really. But, all in all, I am really loving this game, especially with this level of immersion. I haven't even played the game normally yet. After I downloaded it off steam, I immediately implement the VR hack.

The author of the article was wrong, but someone in the comments had the right configuration.

Just a few notes in case they’re of use to anyone:

- Contrary to the instructions, I needed to have only the “Rift” line and not the “Off” line in the config (i.e. just replace the word “Off” with “Rift” under Stereo Mode) to get it to work.

- I couldn’t get VSync to work with Windowed Fullscreen mode, but switching the Rift to my secondary monitor and running the game in genuine Fullscreen with VSync enabled solved the problem.

- Don’t forget: Press both bumpers on an Xbox controller to reset the tracking camera. You may need to do this preiodically — if your screen is black, it may be because your head is inside a solid object. I haven’t checked for a keyboard command."

I haven't gotten very far in the game yet; I haven't even encountered the Xenomorph. But thus far, the atmosphere with the VR headset makes it creepy.

Just finished playing a few moments ago. I'm loving it so far and I usually hate horror games.

When I bought it, I made sure to buy Alien and Aliens with it and watched through them first. The Alien series is one that has deserved a good video game to it name for a long, long time and the weird thing about it is that it took a STRATEGY game developer to make it.

Now, if we could only get a half-decent action game as well. The last one which was actually good was Alien Trilogy on MS-DOS + PlayStation + SEGA Saturn.

Alien: Isolation is certainly a good game. But I think the oculus makes it a great game! I can see how it would be an 8 under normal circumstances, but with the oculus, I give it a 9.5. I find myself feeling dread and terror, when I have to avoid an enemy. Getting beaten to death by a Droid or killed by the alien is horrifying. Definitely a game play experience like nothing I've seen before.
