TheOrganGrinder Posted February 7, 2015 For me, it's the snort-snort-goop sound of a dying demon or spectre. I could listen to that all day. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Tracer Posted February 7, 2015 I also love any of the ambient psx monster sounds. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Boingo Posted February 8, 2015 A while back I found copies of the original camel grunt sounds used for the troopers and imps in DooM (Yes. The sounds you hear in the game were made by camels.). I also found the camel sounds that were used for the ettins in Hexen. I found found the sequence of angry bellows from which the imp death sound was taken. One of the bellows was nearly the same as the one used in the game, except angrier and more intense. When I was first working on DeiMWolf, I used the imp as the stand in for the mutant as I was working on it, and I got used to the sound of the imp dying for the mutant. When I finally got the mutant working, I used the same bellow from the clip for the mutant death as was used for the imp in DooM in a higher quality, plus the angrier sounding version. I also used the same grunt sounds that were used for the ettin in Hexen (again, in higher quality from the clips) for the pain sound for the mutant. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I think those were created by making noises through a plastic cup, which gives them a nice sort of resonance. I'm still curious on what the Cacodemon death sound is. The original is such low fidelity with so much aliasing it's really hard to tell what it might be. Could be an animal, or it could in fact just be a creaking door for all I can tell. I managed to make something similar using a whiney cry mixed with fast random fluctuations in volume. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I also really love the Hell Knight's death scream, which sounds like it's saying 'agua'. I can just imagine its last request is for a drink of water. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Avoozl Posted February 18, 2015 I like the BoH's distorted goat baa death sound much more than the HK's jaguar scream death sound, but they're both good regardless though. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
CyberDemonEmpress Posted February 19, 2015 The Baron Of Hell roar sound is one I always liked. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Du Mhan Yhu Posted February 19, 2015 The sound of 10+ revenants spotting you at once. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Joker_MB10 Posted February 27, 2015 Probably the sound of a door opening. I've heard like a million times. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kotzugi Posted February 27, 2015 From watching demos recently I have come to the conclusion that there are few satisfying sounds as the sound of a BFG firing and a dozen pinkies, zombies, imps, cacos or revenants dying at the same time. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
SYS Posted February 27, 2015 They're all very iconic (which is a strange way of describing audio). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
SandGator Posted February 28, 2015 The Baron of Hell death noise, the SSG reload, and the "extreme scream" when you die from taking a massive amount of damage. For emotional satisfaction the "secret is revealed" music (like opening a chest in Zelda). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
