Tracer Posted February 9, 2016 That looks pretty cool, Gemini. Think you can teach me how to make floor over floor construction like you did there? I've read the doomwiki about it and still don't get it. 0 Share this post Link to post

I think Scifista42 is among the best in assisting in that kind of stuff, and I don't particularly feel like exchanging PMs as I already attempt to exchange PMs with single girls and women, but sure, I can send you a PM tomorrow or later tonight explaining that. It's really simple once you just pull it off once! :-D 0 Share this post Link to post

gemini09 Posted February 9, 2016 For the benefit of anyone not knowing how to pull off 3D-sectors in ZDoom, I'll just post my lil' guide here. 1) Make your sector that you want to be 3D. 2) Make a dummy-sector in the void, assign one of its linedefs with special-tag #160, and tag it with the same tag# as your 3D-sector. And voila! That's basically it! You are constrained to just 1 wall texture on your 3D-sector, but other than that you can control it however you'd like as with any other sector, AFAIK. Bon apetite! :-] Dragonfly said:Ignoring the last 13 non-image based posts, I am here to 're-rail' this somewhat derailed thread. https://i.imgur.com/L9t5Nyp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/b2GTwZG.png https://i.imgur.com/ca5pKLL.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mV2lHlN.jpg You are using a gray fog-color here, right? Gothic Box Posted February 9, 2016 Behold, the first map I ever finished designing, and is so terrible I have no intention of releasing it! I started it in 2013 and abandoned it until late last year, when I managed to finish it up. This is the second map I'm getting close to finishing, which I started working on immediately after finishing the first one. Ironically, I have the final layout set up in a graphing notebook, along with about 5 other maps scribbled down there, but I don't have time to finish or make any of them. 0 Share this post Link to post

I was directly addressing the issue without naming names. That's just called being polite. Being passive aggressive would have been, "Some people on here do some things that aren't really nice." I stated my issue. Thanks though. 0 Share this post Link to post

Are these map finished, could I play it? I remember times (some about 20 years ago) when with friend we build dark map only with big columns, width to good hide before cyberdemon, and we put there tons of weapons and 10 cyberdemons :D From the top it was looking like chess board, that was fun :D I'm planning to release the third beta version of this project after I finish more works. The next release will have 6 more levels. 0 Share this post Link to post
wheresthebeef Posted February 10, 2016 So I started learning Doom Builder this last week as I want to get into Doom mapping. I've created several custom textures and plan to add in a couple custom weapons to get a feel for modding the game as well. The layout is about 80% complete, the only thing left is the exit area and then detailing the rest of the map as well as texture alignments. 0 Share this post Link to post
plums Posted February 10, 2016 That looks very good, especially for a first map, do you have experience mapping/modding for other games? 0 Share this post Link to post
AD_79 Posted February 10, 2016 Quick tip: Turn on square things in your editor. 0 Share this post Link to post
wheresthebeef Posted February 10, 2016 I first started making maps for UT99 back in the early 00's; I had no idea what I was doing and I was only about 13 at the time. I've played with Hammer/SourceSDK for HL2, L4D, and Counter Strike from about 2005-2014, but have only ever released two maps, both of which were lost in time. I've been messing with Doom Builder for a couple weeks now, and the map at the moment is about 3-4 hours of work.AD_79 said:Quick tip: Turn on square things in your editor. Marnetmar Posted February 10, 2016 TraceOfSpades said:Exactly, that's my point. Nobody here is of any real importance. There are respected members, of course. But that shouldn't make them "made men" of sorts. Shit, if I left, there might be a small handful of people that might wonder where I went. But for the most part I'd be forgotten. That's fine and expected. This is a forum full of anonymous people, most of which have never met in person and in all likelihood never will. So why have a hierarchal-esque system implemented? It's just something I always found funny on here. Like "ha ha" funny. It's just a little ridiculous in my eyes. "Don't spout off to him...or else." Seriously? It's the internet. People don't matter here. What the fuck are you even on about anyway What abuse of power are you seeing that the rest of us except for those who coincidentally also happen to be trolls and unironic shitposters do not 0 Share this post Link to post

This isn't the same Wolfenstein-project as Tormentor667's, or is it? Personally I wouldn't mind at all seeing you join forces, but maybe you have different goals. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dragonfly Posted February 10, 2016 It's the same project. I'm working alongside T667 and the rest of the team! At this point in time my map will be filling slot 'C3M2', so it's towards the end-game I guess. :) 0 Share this post Link to post

I've observed many screenshots from this project and I thought the individual posters were rivals because there suddenly were several Wolfenstein-wads :-) Looks very promising and I'm excited about this level of quality entering the community's library. 0 Share this post Link to post
