Post Your Doom Picture (Part 2)

That's pretty much the best I can do:

All I've done today is just this one room and I already gave up. Damn, I have nearly 0 ambitions.. :(

Upd: ok, I think I'm gonna try to force myself to make another room.

That looks good ChekaAgent. I especially like the lighting and the medikit placement. I think it's fun to pick up items from boxes like that. Feels different from when an item is just lying on the floor.

Thanks. The reason for such item placement is that I want items to be optional/out of way. That's because I really hate those times when you, during the fight, accidentally strafe right into some important item that you wanted to save for later and unwillingly pick it up.

I find it both illogical and odd looking how those wooden columns just stand there each on their own, the ceiling ones even giving an impression that they should fall down. It would be cool if all those wooden pieces formed some large connected construction, visibly and plausibly supporting walls and ceilings of the building (the ceiling looks heavy-enough to need some support in the room's center) or serving some other purpose, not only being "random details".

Yes, Tudor ceilings are rife with inspiration for this.

You were missing a key bar so I added that in.

There's no point at having a key bar since it's for deathmatch, when you spawn with all the three keys in deathmatch, you don't see them in the HUD because I made them invisible because it kinda bothers me with the unnecesserility,
when you're in single player a status saying "examination" appears, but when you play deathmatch it dissapears and is replaced with a regular frag count with it subtitled 'frags'.

But I'll use this for lost maps 2, if you don't wanna bother editing it.

Dude, seriously? Don't be so ungrateful, Jimmy's trying to help you here.

I know, but he misunderstood the lack of a key bar and the unusual arm slot, so I explained it, hoping he'd fix it.

Nah, theyre totally bolted in XD

Joking aside, yes, I think you're right; the room isn't finished, but that would be an excellent direction to take it.

Mostly now I'm just trying to establish a theme for the area so I can move on with a clear picture in-mind. But I don't want this whole level to look like some cliche medieval castle, so perhaps it'll just be the first building.

I'm with AD_79 here. You came across very rude and ungrateful for the effort Jimmy put in for you, regardless of if it took jimmy 5 minutes or 5 hours. In the above quoted post you said that you hoped Jimmy would fix it. Now go re-read your initial post. You did now imply such a thing at all. Instead said you MIGHT use it in some other wad.

You ultimately shot down the status bar because Jimmy didn't know you were going for an out-of-the-ordinary idea of disabling the keys; hell, you didn't even say thank you. Not once.

Learn some manners.

I don't get that vibe at all. He just explained that he left out the keys deliberately, not through incompetence as was implied. Where is the "very rude and ungrateful"?
You're tripping.

Stop blaming me for nothing, I just expained something, you and obsidian just read all my replies as if I'm being rude even when I'm not. (and I'm rarely rude, unless you blame me when I'm non-guilty)

Now this what you do is rude.

Dragonfly is stating facts here, you didn't thank Jimmy in any way and instead proceeded to nitpick his work. All you had to do was say thank you and you wouldn't have been pulled up for this, it's as simple as that. Good manners cost nothing, whereas bad manners cost you an awful lot in the long run.

I really did expect there to be no thank you or whatever (that's Just Joe™), I mean to be fair I was kind of asking for it by giving Joe help without asking him beforehand. Just like "hey buddy, your shit sucks, here you go".

Whatevs. Here's the Paint.NET file for the status bar if Joe feels like editing it to his very specific specifications.

Sometimes it's better to just be silent after an incident.

It was an option I already took.

@Jimmy Thanks (I forgot to say that, now that's why you thought I was rude, OK), I'll use it for lost maps 2. I just wanted you to remove the key bars and add a "frags" subtitle because I really need those upgrades.

Also I'm using 'paint' and not 'MSpaint' anymore.

You definitely don't know that the rudeness is, don't ya?

^ Also nice. The dark step looks a little odd in that setting, but it's minor. Consider tweaking one of the room's halves to make it somewhat non-symmetrical, I believe it would turn out looking pretty good that way too.

Just stop, you're making this worse for yourself.
Edit:

Boom mapset I'm working on.
