You should do speedmaps too between your main mapping or participate in speedmap sessions.

Haha, 5 hours? I spent 12 hours mapping yesterday and what came of it was nowhere as good as what you pumped out as a speedmap in 5.

 

I'm going to go cry in a corner now.

Caves are easy.

1) 1x1px grid

2) draw random curves and fractal-like spirals. Make many sectors in themselves

3) pick a nice texture theme for every sector

4) profit

 

Same approach was used for The Womb in Sunlust.

PS: Orthogonal lines are seen as lighter or darker because of engine. No linedef should be orthogonal when you do it.

I wish one of these mirrored pistol setups would go the extra mile of re-mirroring the pistols so that lighting becomes consistent.  Here the right pistol is lit from the right and the left pistol is lit from the left.

Well, I mean, pretty much all fanmade Doom sprites that are edits of existing work have parts that are obviously just edits of existing spritework (see Brutal Doom, where every new animation has static lighting/body parts between frames but just moved slightly).

 

Despite my tone here, I really don't mind it at all - I just can't let myself do it in my own work, because it breaks immersion for me and looks tacky.

Crossposting cause here it gets 10+ likes, and on extra forum it gets no response at all. Need testers.

 

PS: I stole pistols from Deus Vult 2. To edit lighting, you would need 3D model and compute the lighting and it would be a lot of work-that-is-not-seen to make it fit with original sprites...

Been adding dynamic lighting to every level in Skulldash to enhance the OpenGL Experience. Here's a shot that I find to be pretty cool if only because all 3 primary colours are featured.

Several things came to my mind:

 

- He relieved himself but the button doesn't work 

- He found out the lack of toilet paper later

- He's doing some sort of ritual to call the devil

- He's foot got stock in the toilet

- He realized Doom monsters don't pee/poo and can't get out
