Looper beat the record again tonight on stream, with 22:45. There's a demo floating around somewhere but I believe he's trying to improve it a lot more.

Yep, and that wasn't the only slip-up either. Watching it, I was surprised that it actually beat ZM's time. But the numbers add up. A couple of seconds saved here, a couple lost there, and almost half a minute saved just on map03+map24...

Quite a solid run, up until map 29 of course. Also some bad luck with revenants on map 13. When map 29 started it was almost as likely to be sub 21 minutes than sub 22 minutes.

I don't think it will be long before we see what just has to be the final minute mark broken for doom 2.

Watched the demo Fredrik linked. Awesome! Looper got a few unlucky monsters or barrels in his way, he was at 2% health at one moment (in MAP17, time around 11:30). Also excited by those jumps in MAP23 and MAP24, besides many other. I'm not a demoer, but for at least half of the time, the run seemed somewhat as a casual fun ride (plasma+SSG slaughter), which got me really impressed. Hats off. :)

The mess starts in the exit room of map28. Looper says he wasn't too nervous, but I'm pretty sure that moment somewhat shook him up, because it became an exhibition of bad luck since that point.

But the good news is that as each run is shorter than the last, it's less effort to watch each time.

I'm not familiar with speed running so could somebody explain why Map 32 is not included in these runs?

The goal of a 30uv run is to complete the game as fast as possible. The route only includes Wolfenstein, because the early secret exit in 15 and a blitz through 31 seems slightly faster and much safer than the regular 15 exit. Going to 32 as well would be just a waste of time.
