William Blazkowicz Posted December 21, 2014 I have recently found a website on an old webpage that has downloads for all the doom alpha versions. found here: http://toastytech.com/dooma/ When I try running them, it says it isn't compatible. However, it is playable in skulltag. But, for me, I keep getting errors. Any way to fix this? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted December 21, 2014 You mean, the alpha versions are full of bugs and don't work right with ports meant for the finished game? How could it be possible? A possible way to fix this would be to play the finished game. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Da Werecat Posted December 21, 2014 Use the original executables, launch them in DOSBox. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
mrthejoshmon Posted December 21, 2014 Yes, running them in DOSBox should make them work. However, you will need to run a "Faketime" with the Press Release Doom or the game will refuse to run (This was hopefully included in the download you got with it). If not I will gladly direct you to the /idgames version of the Press Release Doom: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?file=historic/doomprbt.zip which include the "Faketime" needed to run it. NOTE: You do not need to use the Faketime for any beta Doom versions that are not the Press Release version of Doom (So that means you can run 02, 04 and 05 perfectly fine. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
FireFish Posted December 22, 2014 Dosbox is needed to run the alphas and betas. idgames has doom and hexen alphas and betas ; http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?dir=historic/ if needed for some reason or other, idgames doomgate ; http://www.gamers.org/pub/idgames/historic/ 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
