Magic is just science with another name.Except that liquid nitrogen is obviously always heavier than air, already due to the fact that it's liquid (liquids are incomparably denser than air) and it has to be really cold to stay liquid. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
joe-ilya Posted March 8, 2015 They fly because they're scared of doomguy, they never knew their talent until doomguy appeared, until then, they just rolled. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Yes but what is happening to the ceramic (not metal) in the video? Floating..the wonders of science. (Bleh, oh well, ceramic instead..I remembered it wrong is all hence the edit). We can do it on that level, a vastly intelligent and resourceful hell, could use these principles and elements to make it into mobile technology and integrate it into the caco to make it fly. Nothing just happens, plenty of things need to be kept cool or hot in order to work, this would just be another one of those things. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

(Bleh, oh well, ceramic instead..I remembered it wrong is all hence the edit). That's because the floating object itself is lighter than liquid nitrogen below it, while both are still heavier than air. If the Cacodemon was somehow able to fill the very entire space below him (=down to the ground) with liquid nitrogen, then well, it would work. :D 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted March 8, 2015 I tend to use the gas explanation. The design of the cacodemon suggests it has a bunch of holes for releasing a particular substance. Almost like it has little organic jets. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Being a Hell scientist must be a wacky job. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Xegethra Posted March 8, 2015 Perhaps, but you know hell...it's weird, it can do what it wants. Or not, it might have elements we have, and some we don't have. And because of this they combine what we do and don't know in order to achieve things. Everything would need set principles to work on, or it wouldn't work. Perhaps they can use it on any surface, in the video the track was metal and they floated above that, I don't know if it it can work on any and all surfaces though..but in Hell they might have been able to modify it to do so if need be. So they might not need to bring a bubble of their reality at all then....so thinking about it, that idea might not be the case after all. But because nobody has officially told us how they float, I still think it is a possibility that they could do it using this method in some form. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

CODOR Posted March 9, 2015 Meanwhile, on some alternate universe Doomworld, a bunch of cacoids are trying to figure out how humans stay on the floor: "They cover their lowest appendages in glue." "They're filled with a gas that's denser than air." "A magical force binds them to the floor." 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Shadow Hog Posted March 9, 2015 Let's just take the Hideo Kojima approach and answer the question with "nanomachines, son". After all, nanomachines can do anything! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Toxie Rocks Posted March 9, 2015 I still don't get it. I've never seen a Cacodemon fly. I don't know what game you guys have been playing. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Shadow Hog Posted March 10, 2015 Yeah, sorry, but the Doom Guy is able to run as fast as he does because of nanomachines. ...that are designed to form a perfectly functional scooter. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Xegethra Posted March 11, 2015 Obviously coding is obvious, but it's a bit of fun to pretend how the monsters might work if we pretended they were real. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Maes, who is by the way a long term community member, skilled programmer and experienced person, spends half of his forum posting by referencing Doom: Repercussions of Evil, Diarrhoea wad, his own wad Doomguy's FORCED and PAINFUL Chocolate Shotgun, or his mind-blowing fanfictions DMCHOSHO - the story and Doomguy: wie er in die Welt kam. (this is where the drawing comes from - the point is, Doomguy is so fast in the game because he rides a scooter). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Splatter Posted March 15, 2015 Cacodemon's don't fly. What we see is just the head, oriented along a body stalk that's both invisible and semi-permeable. Energy projectiles and small metal objects can pass through that body without damaging it or having their velocity measurably affected, but humans and demons can't. This explains the "infinitely tall" behavior observed. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

driftyloon Posted March 18, 2015 The 'arsehole theory' might not be too far off the mark. If you turn to frame HEADA5 in your doom wads, you can clearly see two holes. Although a bit far to call them arseholes, they are for gaseous discharge. The hissing noise is them sucking in air to rise. I am assuming that they have some sort of system to store the air, this enables them to float. They then expel out the back to move them forwards. I have never seen one go backwards(except when you unload a shotgun blast to their face). Make any sense? Or just a load of garbage :( 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ichor Posted March 18, 2015 Cacodemon don't fly. They remain stationary while the entire universe moves around. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
