I'd like it to lose accuracy the longer you hold down the fire key (similar to the venom, but a little worse), but I don't think everyone would appreciate that. i don`t mind that. i tend to use it for close-ranged combat. 0 Share this post Link to post

The military would likely have the technology to make overheating weapons next to unlikely (especially when that chaingun is such a bigassed weapon as it is in D3 - there has to be a a lot of advanced tech crammed into a gun which is basically a modern minigun, which is even larger). What I originally had in mind in regards to the D3 chaingun (before I realized that someone would downright hate the weapon if it turned out that way): I was thinking of something more realistic - in real life you can't just hold down the trigger and spray out death when handling a machinegun, because the recoil would throw the aim off the target completely. Therefore, you fire in bursts in real life. So, to translate this to the chaingun, I was thinking that it should be so that the gun gets increasingly inaccurate the longer you keep the fire key depressed, so that if you just keep firing without a single pause, you'd end up spraying bullets in every other direction than the centre of your view. This would force you to fire in short or longer bursts (short bursts for accurate fire - typically against individual enemies, and longer bursts against small groups or if a pinky is right in your face). The above could turn out to make the chaingun more annoying to use, so I've basically scrapped the idea, but keep the chaingun similar to RtCW's venom gun - less powerful (in terms of individual bullets - not overall), slightly faster rate of fire than the venom (if possible to simulate - if not, just keep it as high as possible), no overheating, and the weapon is more accurate at first than if you keep firing without pause (but not as disastrously inaccurate when continuing fire as in my abovementioned idea). One more thing: I hope that the chaingun's firing sound really sounds cool - it should really sound like it's capable of dishing out some serious punishment. 0 Share this post Link to post
RRROOOAAARRR Posted June 12, 2002 Make as much of the feed and barrel assembly out of advanced ceramics, you'd keep the weight down and almost eliminate overheating to any serious degree. 0 Share this post Link to post
