Jaxxoon R Posted June 15, 2015 I have a feeling that the level they showed us with the captain's hand, if it'll even be in the final game, might be a very early level --if not he first, considering the lengthy cutscene where Doomguy puts on his helmet. If that's so, I'm guessing the stupidly easy "puzzle" is there to tell the player "NOT ALL KEYS... ARE KEYS," and that the linearity is... well, because it's the first level. Remember MAP01? It's just two hallways and a few side rooms. Considering the player leaps up to a catwalk instead of taking the lower tunnel path, there might be more to this stage than meets the eye. However, I have my doubts this map will even be in the final game without some dye modification. Seems more like a short section designed to show off the combat and open environments. I will admit that I like the plasma rifle's sounds, if only because they're so wimpy they're cute. Doesn't help that the gun itself is snow-white, bulky, and has all those pointless wiggly bits. I'm sore about the monster sounds though. I can't tell the zombies from the imps and they never make any defining sounds, so everything's a whir of high pitched "hrrueeerrhrrruuurrh," I can tell that's gonna screw me over. I'd go a far as to say Doom 3 had better monster sounds. The small hell quarry section... I'm guessing it's some kind of boss map or something considering the cyberdemon is there and it's rather arena-esq. Maybe not as cool in concept as Tower of Babel but whatever. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Akse Posted June 15, 2015 potnop said:Cyberdemon looked like a friggin work of art back in Doom 1.Now it's just this giant generic bulky looking thick thing. My thoughts exactly. I do like the turbine though. Wait, they gave hands to the cacos or those are pain elementals? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
illYay1337 Posted June 15, 2015 Well I saw the full e3 thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRPpamFLrLw&feature=youtu.be&t=3m8s The hell part looked pretty cool. A large open arena rather than tight linear corridors. I just hope it's not arena after arena like serious sam, but actual exploration, etc... I was put off at first when he said, Doom is about this, etc... NOOOO, it's about also good level design.... We'll see. I hope on PC there's a way to disable that time slowing down thing when switching guns. I just want to hit a number key and not have the game constantly slow down. Maybe it's fine when you're in control, and it's only going to work in single player anyway and probably built specifically for selecting guns when using controllers. I can see myself getting seriously into the multiplayer if it becomes good. It's even got some good ol zombies mode in there that I always have fun with. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lore Posted June 15, 2015 I had trouble writing... Do we see this kind of secret areas? I'm not talking about Painkiller/Serious Sam style extreme difficult secrets, but the secret locations that are hidden on surrounding environment to make player eager to explore every inch of the level. Wolfenstein (2009) had this type of secrets: https://youtu.be/8bJnc_5XKPs?t=7m32s https://youtu.be/KgSubm_DPaw?t=1m31s [e]Oh. Second pic has nothing to do with secrets. :D 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
