nxGangrel Posted June 10, 2015 What @PRIMEVAL said. I think the lost souls in game are bigger so they can be easier to see and hit. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
VGamingJunkie Posted June 11, 2015 Probably a combination of being easier to see and hit and so they could jam more detail into the limited size of Doom sprites at the time. It isn't like (G)ZDoom where we can just shrink and expand sprites and textures to our heart's content. XD 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Touchdown Posted June 11, 2015 Proportions are all broken in DOOM. In fact, proportions are broken in many games, especially early TPP 3D games where a switch would be gigantic. It's all because you're looking at the flat monitor. A lot of things are intentionally wrong because otherwise they'd look bad on a screen. For instance, the camera is usually on chest height because otherwise other people would look too small. VR guys are facing those problems now where they have to change the scale of things because with VR (the correct way of looking at things) proportions from 'normal' games are wrong. A flight simulator is a good example - in VR the 'default' cockpit looks way too big... but it looks correct on a monitor. Anyway, the size of the Lost Soul is most likely intended to be that of a human-sized skull (as demonstrated in DOOM 3) but due to all sorts of gameplay/graphical issues already mentioned, they're bigger. But again, the scale in DOOM is broken. You can't make 1 to 1 comparisons to the real world most of the time. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Avoozl Posted June 12, 2015 MetroidJunkie said:How about the Lost Soul from the Classic Colors Skin Pack? http://screenshots.filesnetwork.com/18/files2/33484_2.jpgThe Forgotten One from Resurrection of Evil is already better than the Classic Colors Skin Pack of the Lost Soul. It's like the best of both worlds. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
RUSH Posted June 12, 2015 Wow Nerve Software suck at modeling. I always felt the Resurrection of Evil lost soul looked retarded and had none of the sinister evil of the original. It just looks like a flying clown head or something. And then there's the "Doomguy" from Resurrection of Evil... *Shivers* 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
