geo Posted June 19, 2015 I thought the Cyberdemon's entrance was pretty cartoonish and didn't feel Doom. I think its the waggling jaw. I know its good to show more animation to spice things up, but I don't think anything with a jaw bone wiggles that much when it yells or belches. Prove me wrong Internet. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Flesh420 Posted June 19, 2015 IF they'd redo those elk horns it wouldn't be nearly as weird looking. One thing I noticed that no one's seemed to mention is if you look closely after he kills the Mancubus his spine's up and out much like original. Awesome. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Amph Posted June 19, 2015 this is the original in the new one there is too much rock on it, and his horns remind me of a ox, bison or something 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Stealth Frag Posted June 19, 2015 I just realize that new Revenant is 2x bigger then player - like in Classic Doom: 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ixnatifual Posted June 19, 2015 I like the look of the new monsters. I always liked the Doom 3 hell knights even if they don't exactly look demonic. Doom 4 certainly looks more inspired by Doom 3's style than the old games, but I don't mind this. Their animations I think are also some of the best I've seen. I think the reason the monsters may seem kind of generic is because everything seems to be covered in orange/brown lighting, unfortunately. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lvangundy Posted June 20, 2015 My immediate reaction was "WTF are those grey/brown things hopping around?" I was very, very x 1000 disappointed with the monster design in the trailer. And once I saw the Amibo's I knew the Cyberdemon design was cemented - that's the worst one! It looks like an overweight puffy cartoon. The allure of doom was the demonic appearance of the monsters! the cacodemon is a floating brown ball that has no purple, red, or blue! That modified screenshot on reddit that popped up a few days ago made things look more inline with the original design. I wish we could voice our opinions and actually make a difference somehow. I guess modding the models will be the only way post release. The revenant is the only thing that looks close to the A. Carmack designs. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Also that screenshot is yuck, no thanks. The cyber is awful though yes. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Avoozl Posted June 20, 2015 The Doom 4 Cyberdemon does look a bit retarded. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Tetzlaff Posted June 20, 2015 With a few alterations the Doom 4 Cyberdemon could look much better. The multi-eyed face itself doesn't look too bad, judging from the screenshots. Replace the stupid antlers with horns. Make the jaw a bit more slim so that the overall shape of the head resembles a bull head more (Baphomet style). And then emphasise on the bionic parts to put back the cyber into the Cyberdemon. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted June 20, 2015 The new cyberdemon is weird because he looks intimidating--even moderately badass--in some shots; in other shots he looks like a cheesy D&D monster. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
LANEGRACABRA Posted June 20, 2015 A big portion of his intimidating demeanor comes from the way he is presented in the game. Had the gameplay demo introduced him in the same manner as in the 2014 trailer, a poorly lid room, his stature being obscured by shadows. Shit would hit the underpants. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted June 20, 2015 He seemed almost harmless in the gameplay footage compared to the other demons. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lvangundy Posted June 20, 2015 I just wish there was more of a medium between the two screenshots. I agree the colored one is too much, but you can't argue the current, new, caco is as bland and brown as ever. Tetzlaff Posted June 20, 2015 Goat or bull - my point is that the head shape is more triangular. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Good thing I don't mind him being bland and brown :D (actually I would argue that his design makes him not bland despite his coloration) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Fixed that for you. D&D has the Balor which the Doom 4 Cyberdemon would look considerably better if it resembled one. Minus the wings, of course. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Deleted_Account Posted June 20, 2015 The Archvile is a creature I hope makes it into new Doom. I've always felt the design of the Vile was inspired by the movie monster Pumpkinhead, I hope they retain that. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
LANEGRACABRA Posted June 20, 2015 I like how Barons and Hellknights in the original Dooms have almost a canine face rather than that of a goat's. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Balor of course being a Balrog of Lord of the Rings fame but with a slightly different name for practical reasons. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Nineball Posted June 22, 2015 I don't care too much for the imp designs as they look more alien then demonic. Whats wrong with red eyes and spikes. Doom 3's imps weren't bad at all. Also i really hate how the hell knights are just bigger roided up versions of the imps. But atleast the baron of hells seem to stay true to their orginal doom design (for those that haven't seen it yet if you look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTNxDrMMLvM&index=4&list=FLFKRmESESQIVcXMDFWa9DRQ and go to the 54 sec mark in the back ground you see a horned demon that is massive in size and has the same movement as the barons from doom 3 and because of their redish hue it leads me to believe these are the barons, but i could be wrong. the mancubus are pretty dope looking imho and may favorite demon design i've seen so far. The revenant looks like what i expected it to look like so no problems there. I haven't seen a super clear pic of the pinky but they seem to be a bit too big. Im on the fence with the design of the caco's although with that terrible color palette they look like demonic meatballs. And the biggest disappointment.... that fucking cyber demon. holy fuck! The person that though this was a good design needs to be taken out back and crowbar'd 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
CyberDemonEmpress Posted June 22, 2015 I only have an issue with the cyberdemon (like everyone else I guess). While hes not outright horrible, he does look pretty generic in my opinion.. I mean it seems like we've that kind of monster design a 1000 times in video games to me. The Revenant looks great, truly scary and bazaar. All the other demons where cool too, the cacos look fine to me, I don't have an issue with their colors, they look like an updated version of the classic cacos in my opinion. Same with the Revenant. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
