SquigRattlehead Posted May 8 Continuing with my stuff, here's an assortment of random gore I had made some time ago. Also the frames for the split zombieman .gif I posted earlier. I should make more, I mostly make weapons so it's pretty fun for a change. 18 Quote Share this post Link to post

NeoWorm Posted May 8 So some time ago we were talking about some kind of sprites repository where all the sprite sheets and edits can be collected, browsed, downloaded and updated if necessary. Instead of makind a website just for that, I tried to throw something together just on Google drive as a kind of proof of concept. Just folders and file names, but with a structure that would maybe be enough for what we need:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1qSF8cOhjLb6Fh9xc7fN4CaBj70Lx7mL6?usp=sharing It is for DooM style only for now and only monsters. Basic categories are:Default - for all additions to default DooM monsters, currently there is bunch of alternative attacks, death animations etc. But sprite fix sprites and base sprite sheets could live here too. Derivate - are new monster designs based on another design, this includes recolors, currently there are no derivates based on non default monsters Original - all designs that are made from scratch, that means all of newer Amuscaria and NMN works would go there Than you have a folder for each monster, if it is in category of Derivate it should have it's basis in parenthesis and for both Derivate and Original there should be author in the folder name - for example "Cyberimp (Imp) by Tsran908" And lastly name of the sprite sheet should be name of the monster, followed by description and credit either in the sprite sheet or in the name. This would be the biggest challenge since I have stock of hundreds of sheets but hardly any is credited. Next step would be another folder inside with all the cut .png sprites with offsets set up ready to be loaded into wad. As I said this is test for now, there are empty folders monstly, but some are filled with bunch of sprite sheets as examples. I would like a feedback if you think this could be useful. As far as I know I can give others access to this so other people could contribute, fill in credits, update sprite sheets, discuss etc. Drive should keep all the files as they are without converting them to jpgs or any other degradation and if we use pngs, the sizes should be small enough to not cause any problems. 15 Quote Share this post Link to post

Amaruψ Posted May 10 Been working on a multiplayer exclusive wad currently, and thought that I could rework some of the weapon sprites, seems to be a good idea since I'm reworking some of their attributes too. Some of them received minor fixes and changing Doom guy's hand foreskin to actual gloves, but I've essentially reworked the chaingun and the rocket launcher. Credit for the "rocket launcher" sprite goes to Ravage over at ZDoom forums, whom's flamethrower sprites I've used as the base. I tried cleaning up the unused weapon sprite myself but it was way too much hassle. 17 Quote Share this post Link to post

Desfar Posted May 10 (edited) Fiddling with combining clay and 3d printed components to make some stop motion figures (al la the OG doom models) And i definitely need to work on the contrast between components to make them pop more. Otherwise I just need texture worked into the skins a bit more. (Even how rough it is, it really looks closer to a ff7 crude polygon critter than anything) Size comp, Clay Testrun, Inspiration image Edit:5/13 Round 2 with hefty rework to the critter. 5/15 Testing the front angle, and it looks too much like a dick, lol Edited May 15 by Desfar 9 Quote Share this post Link to post

MrFlibble Posted May 11 @jaeden, looks interesting, but I feel that the torso kind of dominates over the scorpion part, especially the legs. Any chance you could make them bigger and longer? It almost feels that the body is a bit too close to the ground. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Tried to double length of the legs, and slightly increased size of pincers and tail. Does it look better like this? 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
MrFlibble Posted May 11 (edited) @jaeden, yes, definitely the scorpion body now looks more proportional, and the whole creature gives the impression of standing firmly on the ground. May I ask if this charming lady was the inspiration for this character? Edited May 11 by MrFlibble 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It's from Deus by Silmarils, a sequel of Robinson Requirem. I think you find the axe in Cave, after you jumped into well near the house (its located before the elevator to snowy mountains) and swimmed into annoying underwater maze which you can die quite easily in simulation mode, even you fully equipped green snakeskin to negate some cold effect from water. You can get axe after you killed the tribal "afterboss", which dropped 2 axes. I think I stopped play the game after I stuck into that damned "we locked you in this room that has waters and pls locate and defuse the bombs in X seconds" because I can't find the last bomb. Edit: I replayed the game, and I found that my memory kinda messed up. The green snakeskin is actually called lizardskin. Also I think I've seen that exact axe frame sprite after I dipped into that annoying underwater maze and resurfaced, or its a frame of straight melee attack(Deus has 3 different forms of melee combat, much like Elder Scrolls). Spoiler Screenshot 1: Died tribal "afterboss" Screenshot 2: Picking up Axe Screenshot 3: Equipping Axe Edit 2: I managed to past the annoying underwater maze (tbh not really annoying in videogame mode, but in simulation mode, you'll die in seconds if not careful enough to recover player's temperature soon enough). I used "mini-mode" bug to get full sprite of the axe. Here's the axe frame that you only see after resurfacing from the maze (ignore the weird amputated body lol, its the side-effect of the bug I used).
