Posted this sprite over on ZDoom a while ago, so I figured I would share it here too. Heavily WIP, but being the huge Nintendo/Mario nerd I am, I've always wanted to make a proper Doom sprite for one of my favourite characters. I expect to finish a full set of these plus Luigi and Yoshi eventually for a Zandronum skin set and other projects, although it will take a good while since I'm dealing with IRL stuff very much at the moment.

 

 

And HUD face to boot. (also WIP)

Here is the first part WITH the cape on the 1st angle.
They should be smooth and smexy.
The attack cycle is next, Then I will get the pain and death finished.

9/21/23 final sequence will be the pain and death. im gonna try and take some inspiration from Bluepineapple, and make the death sequence one where the body falls to the ground, as the vibrant blue spectral lich dissolves upwards akin to the spirit projectiles in hexen.

I've completed the Tartarog's walking frames. Will likely need to touch them up when I get home as laptop's monitor doesn't show Doom's grays very well. Regardless a very exciting moment for me.

 

Just have these and the death animation left. Shooting should be pretty easy since I only need to draw his custom limbs once; I can easily modify them for the lighting in the firing frames.

It wasn’t too big of an issue since I got to chest and hide most of it in shadow since he’s supposed to be a big smoke and fire monster. Some angles look better than others but where it counts it counts. Would’ve been quicker to not fix them but I think the final look is worth the effort

Found my old work, that i never posted publicly

needed a crystal sprite so i turned the stalagmites into crystals. plus other colors i didnt need for my own purposes at the time so have them. now all packed up in a wad (sprites only)

the dark white one is made to match SP_ROCK1, the rest is just basic colors lol

 

bonus: raw crystallized fireblu

 

and a diy unpaletted separated version (there is a subtle semitransparent effect on the bottom that overlays over the ground bit) so you can color them yourself if so inclined. im also willing to do it myself if you have a specific palette range/color scheme you want to see in crystal form

definitely :3 as long as there's credit given to me somewhere in a text file or wherever, you (as well as anyone else) can take them and go wild

EDIT: just hit me the Alien Drone with the Baron of Hell head could work as a Fallout Deathclaw if recolored, would just lack a tail and some tweaks probably.

I guess DeHacked couldn't do a +FLOORHUGGER with a Lost Soul charge? Though I suppose with that kind of flag you'd miss out on the fun of the guy driving off over ledges or even diving down cliffs.

They react weird to being shot mid-attack, which isn't a problem for the lost souls themselves, but it is a problem for someone ground-based.
