purist Posted August 10, 2015 What thread? All I see is an empty broom closet. I've been deliberately avoiding screenprints of TraversD and my map since detailing/aesthetics are being left until last. However, for an update - the layout for the main progression is pretty much done so the only mechanical and archetictural changes needed are for secrets, possible additional optional areas and amendments to accomodate gameplay or detail. Monster thing placement is also almost there but is at first draft stage so at present I am spending most of my time working on gameplay. Ammo/health balancing is only part done. Multiplayer/co-op flags are not yet touched. Aesthetics are acceptable in a basic way in some areas and rough in others. Every area will need at least some polish. Lighting is at a similar state, maybe a little further along. I'm happy to share a link with 40oz if he wants to check progress. I will be spending a couple of hours on it tonight then handing it back to TraversD. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chainie Posted August 10, 2015 MAP04 - ChaingunnerX - Joe-ilya https://www.mediafire.com/?2c3739vgpbs46eu Name : Downtown Requesting slot : MAP04 Status : Finished, we suppose. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
NuMetalManiak Posted August 10, 2015 First to review: Downtown: played on ITYTD, HMP, and UV. this one could REALLY benefit if it had a backpack, especially on the higher skill levels where I run out of rocket ammo rather quickly. overall, combat is very slow with the SSG mostly taking precedence on many high-tier monsters that dot the streets of the town (although chaingunners were a priority target for me, of course). Generally speaking, it's pretty good in terms of combat. Visually, it's not as eyesorish as joe-ilya's previous work, but the textures are quite varied that I can obviously tell he made some of this. with the amount of space provided I more or less enjoyed what I dealt with. I wouldn't say this map needed more ammo, but I'd be more than happy to see a backpack (I don't remember there being one when playing), since there's no cell weaponry. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Angry Saint Posted August 10, 2015 I played downtown. I was very confused at the beginning, I didn't know where to go. I had to do some try and error (=die) before finding out the correct path to follow. I didn't find this level as rich as the other ones from the visual point of view. Maybe more detail? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
obake Posted August 11, 2015 I may join in on this project. If only I didn't have so much troubles with dehacked... :p 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

If only I didn't have so much troubles with dehacked... :p The only dehacked things going on here are a possible dehacked boss for the last map. Other than that, it's standard Doom 2 enemies, standard Doom 2 weapons. EDIT: By the way, how's progress going on your maps, everyone? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
40oz Posted August 11, 2015 obake said:I may join in on this project. If only I didn't have so much troubles with dehacked... :p Thanks for your interest!! You shouldn't have any trouble with dehacked. Any dehacked business will be handled by me and a few other helpers. This wad only features new graphics and textures, otherwise its all regular Doom 2 stuff. So there shouldn't be anything to worry about. If you'd like to make a map for this project, you could find some mappers who wouldn't mind the extra help with their map, or you can download the texture pack and start making a map your self, post your Work In Progress screenshots in this thread, and ask for someone to contact you to be your partner! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Phobus Posted August 12, 2015 Just as a progress report: I've not discussed the Laboratory map with TraceofSpades yet, but as he's working on another map in this project already I've assumed we'll not be getting into it properly for a short while. I've focused on TNT Revilution for the time being. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Yeah I'm happy to get on board with you guys, ill take a look at the map later. Already got a couple of ideas in mind for it 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
pavera Posted August 14, 2015 Why is this thread on the second page? Blasphemy! Work on your maps! And then Pavera took a long, hard look at himself in the mirror. He realized that he was a disgusting hypocrite who also hasn't been working on his map. You sicken me Pavera. The compactor is probably about 85-90% done at this point. I'm trying to have the finishing touches put on it tonight before passing it back to Jerry for a final creative once-over. I think it's turned out quite good! I like it. I think it's pretty fun, and there are a lot of crushers. I've never used crushers in a map until now, so that's exciting. Milestones. Mutiny is great, carry on. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
pavera Posted August 15, 2015 Yell at me for being a terrible person who posts twice in a row, I don't care. Here's a WIP screenshot of the compactor. Not shown: any of the actual machinery, but one of the factory control areas. ;) Hope you like it! The rest of the map will remain a mystery until release :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted August 15, 2015 Looks great, Pavera! The high-contrast aesthetic is a nice take on the industrial theme that so often in Doom equates to "brown and more brown". 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
printz Posted August 15, 2015 This project has the same name ("Mutiny") as a ZDoom mod where you play against humans (Doom style graphics). Does this have the same theme? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

40oz Posted August 17, 2015 MUTINY TEAM MEETING Hello everyone! Were approaching September, and I had planned to have the majority of the mapping and testing done right around this point. I understand there have been some hiccups and communication barriers that have kept things from moving fluidly, and that's okay. For the time being I'd like to arrange a team meeting to group everyone together at one time and get us a bit more coordinated. Team meetup in the #mutiny IRC chatroom -- Thursday Aug 20 5:00PM to 9:00PM UTC and Friday Aug 21, 1:00PM to 5:00PM UTC Use everytimezone.com to coordinate time zones if necessary. Chat Live with the Mutiny team from your browser via webchat OR from your browser with the the Kiwi IRC Client -- Instructions OR with your own IRC Client, by connecting to: Server: irc.oftc.net:6667 Channel: #mutiny During the meeting there will be:Live discussions about creative direction and gameplay ideas Map exchanging On the spot map testing, and detailed feedback Map planning and teambuilding exercises Speedmapping sessions to experiment with the texture resource I may also arrange a Skype conference call or perhaps a Mumble server to speed up communication if desired. Please check in in the IRC channel during the team meeting days within those time frames. If you won't be able to attend the team meeting on either one of those days within that time frame, please send a Private Message to me as soon as you can. Team members who have not already shared a map and do not attend the meeting without sending me a message excusing themselves will be dropped from the project. Its not fair to make the project stagnate because of absent team members. So please set aside some time to attend the meeting, it should be a lot of fun and should bring much more clarity to the future of the project! Thank you. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Obsidian Posted August 17, 2015 Yeaahh, both those times translate to AM for me, doesn't look like I'll be able to make it. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
nxGangrel Posted August 17, 2015 Damn I wish I could join the meeting. I'm busy during that time though. I just wanna mention due to me working on multiple maps for Mutiny, as well as other projects including my own (and having to deal with other things in RL), the maps I am working on may take longer than anticipated. I need to send a map to fonze, and scifista hasn't contacted me in a few weeks. I'm not giving up hope though. They should all be finished for the wad. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Tracer Posted August 17, 2015 I will try to join the meeting on Thursday. If I'm absent that means that my relief never showed up at work. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Fonze Posted August 17, 2015 I got Thursday off, so I'll definitely be there then. Friday I gotta work so I'll either be there for some of it or I'll be in-and-out, checking in on my break/lunch. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
purist Posted August 17, 2015 I should be available for most if not all of the Thurs meeting but I'll be unlikely to be available for the Friday meeting - might just catch the end. @40oz - I was planning to PM you the level Traversd and I are working on anyway so I'll do this ahead of the meeting. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Angry Saint Posted August 17, 2015 I'm not sure to be able to participate... I will be traveling for work and don't know if I have time for connecting. Our map (I and CorSair) is in the making. I will post some screenshot in the next days. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Phobus Posted August 17, 2015 I can certainly make Thursday, but the Friday I'll probably only just about catch the tail end of. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
40oz Posted August 17, 2015 Thank you everyone who will be attending the meeting, certainly it'll be a lot of fun and it should be nice to exchange works in progress and get live feedback :) For the guys who wont be able to make it on either day, thanks for letting me know. There will be more meetings in the future and ill arrange to have them at more convenient times! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
traversd Posted August 17, 2015 I'll look to attend the Friday session (11pm to 3am here in Oz) As purist advises above - We've been bouncing our map back and forth and it is just about ready for some test runs. Quite happy with how it's turning out. Travers 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
pavera Posted August 17, 2015 I'll try to be there for what I can, though both meetings seem to fall right inside work hours for me. I have a computer at work, so I'll try and keep a window up on my screen during that time. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Obsidian Posted August 17, 2015 I should probably just say it here: at the moment progress is kind of nonexistant. I made the starting area, sent it to Springy, didn't get a timely answer, sent it to Xaser, he sent it back with improvements and I hit a block. it seems that Xaser maps in wide open areas, which as you may know I am rather rubbish at doing myself: I just don't know what to do with all the space and I end up doing nothing at all or just meaningless decorative bits. I'll have a talk with Xaser about where we go from here, most likely on the weekend, and I'll see if I can catch Springy as well because I really feel like I pushed him by the wayside a bit in the process of keeping things moving. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Velvetic Posted August 17, 2015 I'm available at both those days, so i'll attend the meeting as well. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
