My hardest doom speedrun so far. I analyzed and illustrated the strategies as clearly as I could in the video. Thanks to 4shockblast, Daerik, and SKYWARDS: I learned a lot from studying your speedruns. I once thought this was impossible with fast monsters, but the arch-vile jumps, the zero-press, and careful execution of the horseshoe and butterfly maneuvers proved otherwise.

This is a 1st exit; and not super fast. I got a low 33 before in a segmented run, so 32 and 31 should be possible. But the real deal is to go... sub 30? You might have to go for riskier play for that, and maybe not kill the tower arch-viles with rockets? That translates to madness on the last fight, but it might be feasible somehow. Anyway my time is totally beatable; so good luck!

I think most people tend to respect it if someone goes for a first-ever achievement sorta thing, but if it's just a random run, stream sniping has happened fairly commonly (and I'd argue it's just part of speedrunning anyway). That said, especially over a long period of time, the chance of getting sniped is certainly there.

It happens occasionally - if people are seeing a run attempted, it can become tempting to try it themselves, particularly if it looks fun.  The work put into a run is given a lot more context when people are seeing the attempts and it becomes more relatable by extension.  Also, if people are seeing the run attempted, that can ease them into it since the first steps are generally to review what was already done to learn the route or any tricks involved.

I only follow streamers that are worse than me so that I can snipe all their runs. It's the only thing keeping me together at this point.

Practice for a D2All, easily beatable if you learn my own route since Map06 and Map09 went pretty bad. This was a first exit too, and played as if it were a D2All attempt, so I perform the death-exit skip at the end of Map10, and I do not dump all cells and rockets in the final maps. Pretty fun to learn this, this run is slow but I thought it would be neat to just post this and contribute to history of longer sunlust runs. IDK if I will do episode 2 and episode 3 runs, since it might be wasted time imo to practice those from a pistol start when I really am gunning for a D2All.

 

I took Henning's routes for Map04, 05, and 07 a bit, and Daerik's (probably outdated since he has rerouted the d2all since) route for map10.
