Frisky Posted August 28, 2015 I might sound stupid for saying this, but how do I make lighted areas in GZDB? I'm just a newbie at Dooming. >.< 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Reisal Posted August 28, 2015 You mean dynamic lighting ala Half-Life/Quake? I believe there is the "Light" thing you place and adjust color/brightness/Z position. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted August 28, 2015 Dynamic lights will only work in ports with OpenGL rendering, such as GZDoom. In software rendering ports, they will typically display as placeholder actors, giving an impression of a glitch. If you intend your wad to be playable in ports with a software renderer too, you should rely on regular sector-based lighting (assigning brightness values to sectors) and not use dynamic lights. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
snapshot Posted August 28, 2015 Place the "Light" (Aka thing type 9800) object in where you want your light to be in your Map , And give the correct RGB Color, though unlike Half-life it'll only work for OpenGL due to some engine limitations or idk. EDIT: Ah also i forgot to mention the format of Map should be UDMF 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Godling Posted August 28, 2015 Can a level be lit exclusively with dynamic lights? And if so, can someone suggest a good example to check out? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted August 28, 2015 @Godling: There was a thread about this and possible problems were brought up. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
