Voros Posted April 24, 2016 I don't know why, but I think of it like this: The Cyberdemon is a "pure" demon, devoid of modifications but still born with power or grew in power, such as this Titan thing. Might be like a mix of Baron and moose, on a large scale. The Baalgar, a demon modified to the limit, consisting of a sharp shield like thing on one hand, and the other that has a rocket launcher... It seems that the Baalgar is the classic Cyberdemon reincarnation, while the "Cyberdemon" is something closer to the Baalgar, but with some changes (like the Barons and HKs from Doom 2) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
VGamingJunkie Posted April 24, 2016 I imagine a pure Cyberdemon devoid of cybernetics (Ironic since its name is CYBERDemon so I guess they were called something else) would be more about brutalizing with its limbs than anything else since it has the size for it. It could stomp a human with its feet or hands if it wanted to or just pick up things and throw them like a really tall version of The Hulk. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Deleted_Account Posted April 24, 2016 I imagine that a pure, uncyberfied demon is like a regular cheeseburger with your usual pickles, onions, lettuce, 100% beef patty on a fresh bun. But the Baalgar is a triple cheese burger. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xerge Posted April 25, 2016 I just did some research on the Baalgar and from I read he is the hell variant of the cybermoose. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Xerge Posted April 25, 2016 I think the "cyberdemon" we've seen is something similar to the "cybermancubus", their cybernetic implants have been built and attached to their bodies by the UAC scientists and engineers. Apparently the Baalgar also has some sort of cannon, I'm not really sure, but if he does it's 100% Hellish, which probably works powered by Hell Energy, similar to the arm cannons of the regular mancubus, so basically the "cyberdemon" we've seen would be a Baalgar with cybernetic implants just like a "cybermancubus" is a mancubus with cybernetic implants. My guess is that the arm cannons made by the UAC might be powered by Hell Energy too, the only difference being that all these cybernetic cannons and implants have been fabricated by the UAC, maybe in an attempt of rebuilding captured and damaged demons to control the demons' ability to attack and use them as biological weapons or something like that, who knows. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Xerge Posted April 25, 2016 Are you refering to the laser dudes in white armor? They seem to have a hell variant too, so maybe they are also cyberneticallly enhanced demons or hybrids. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

If we are talking about the ones that seem to have at least some projectile based blaster/laser weapon, I had assumed those were the former humans of this doom. Maybe the hell variant is the fully corrupted version. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I think you could say that, because in a certain way they might be "former humans", just like the revenants were originally human beings, but as far as I know there are supposed to be other enemies who are meant to represent the former human and the shotgun guy from the original games. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I don't think they are actual humans, more like the damned humans from Hell. They have a hand with four fingers(including thumb), an augmentation to replace the other arm into a Cannon, and lost one eye for some white metal plate thing. Same for the Revenants. IMO of course. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I don't know about the others but the Revenant is a human, surgically grafted with a Mobile Launch Rocket Battery (no anesthesia), and exposed to massive doses of Argent Energy, causing ridiculously fast bone growth, faster than what the muscles can keep up with. The subject then dies and is resurrected as an human-soldier of hell. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

So there would at least be three that used to be human at some point then (I still think the dudes with the lasers/blaster a used to be human at some point). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

That's right, I knew I had read something like that somewhere, i just remembered that's how the revenant is described in the art book, the revenants are supposed to be UAC soldiers who have been exposed to that thing called "The Lazarus Wave" whatever that is. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

DoomzRules Posted April 25, 2016 My real question is.... are we going to see former humans like the ones from the original Doom armed with semi-auto rifles and shotguns? Or is it all just weird Strogg looking things as opposed to our favourite green-haired and no-hair buddies? =D 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It'd be pretty cool if he goes from Steroid Moose to full-blown badass cyber demon. Like the moose model is the regular type you bump into on most occasions, then the Cyber form (with proper horns) is a boss, mini boss, or something. That would be cool, because they tricked us into thinking one of the biggest badasses of Doom is just a lumbering retard moose with rockets. They tricked US ALL! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BloodReyvyn Posted April 25, 2016 /sigh... Teaser Trailer from 2014: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwTrUcSUaos There's the Cyber-Demon right there. Same head, horns, feet, cybernetic implants and everything. People had 2 years to give feedback, but instead went, "Yay! Doom!" And right before the game's going to launch, people get all nit-picky. Lol. Really does crack me up. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

BloodReyvyn Posted April 25, 2016 Oldest post I could find was from last summer... Most people didnlt start jumping on the hate wagon and calling it a moose until a couple months ago when the cybermoose pic was posted, but months = years I guess. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Tadaa: https://www.doomworld.com/vb/doom-2016-general/68944-doom-lives-teaser-trailer-inside/ Second post by Doom_RO. The Cyberdemon was talked about since the very first teaser trailer. Of course, the discussion greatly intensified after the E3 gameplay trailers. But I agree, "years" might have been an exaggeration on my part. I rephrase it into "since nearly two years" :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Traysandor Posted April 25, 2016 As we all know, the Cyberdemon originally made it's first apperance as the boss at the end of Episode 2 "The Shores of Hell". Hopefully, this means that our rocket-launching friend will make its first appearance as a mid-game boss, but after that make a few appearances in the late game (Much like how it was used a few times in Episodes 3 and 4 of the original Doom). As for a final boss thuogh, the Spider Mastermind from E3 and E4 was quite underwhelming, especially if you bring a BFG and shoot it in its face. The same goes for the Cyberdemon from Doom 3, I never found it much of a threat either. Though personally, I never really took the Spiderdemon too seriously, because it's way too easy to find ways to distract and/or kill it. All you need is a pillar, wall, or door and that chaingun attack becomes pretty useless... the same could be said if you fought the Spiderdemon at a great distance, because the wall of bullets becomes very inaccurate very fast. Or just stand between it and a horde of demons, and let the bad guys murder the Spiderdemon for you. :P If they do bring back the Spiderdemon as a final boss, I hope someone from their group has played some of the monster mod packs, or something like Brutal Doom/Complex Doom, where the Spiderdemon becomes a much deadlier force to be reckoned with. I'm sure the guys at Bethesda will come up with something more entertaining. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BloodReyvyn Posted April 25, 2016 Well, dang Tuo, I'll be damned. I couldn't find one before around June. :) lol Still, the point is still that this late in development, we're stuck with it. I personally don't mind the new Cyberdemon design, it's a lot better than the Horsebot in Doom 3. :P 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kristian Nebula Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) Just without reading any of the previous messages, I decided to post into this topic since it's about the Cyberdemon. My post is about a tactic on how to beat it fast on Ultra-Nightmare or on any other skill. If you want to find out for yourself, don't read any further as someone could take this as a spoiler.  I was practising for the UNM fight on Nightmare and noticed that the fully upgraded Heavy Assault Rifle with Micro Missiles mod work wonders with the Rich get Richer II Rune to bring down his energy fast. The micro missiles can be fired on him indefinitely without costing any ammo, and it brings down his energy very fast, while stunning it with the BFG when it tries to shoot the big shiny ball weapon and then shooting with the Gauss Siege Mode two times in a row before he wakes up from the BFG stun. And the Gauss Cannon can also be used for Gauss-jumping to create distance between the player and the Cyberdemon. If your armor is down after the Lazarus end fight, take the Equipment Power II Rune on and throw a few Siphon Grenades at him to get your armor back up fast. This can be done again as soon as your armor goes below 75 which deactivates the Rich get Richer II.   Edited July 12, 2017 by Nebula-Kristian 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Cyberdemon in doom 3 was too easy to defeat while you had the soul cube. And fighting with it wasn't even a little similar with the classic doom. Â Doom 3 was not a good DOOM game in general. It was more a horror game than a DOOM game. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
PotatoWater Posted August 18, 2017 Being here after the release of DOOM '16 and playing the 'hell' out of it, I can say I like the way they used to cyberdemon in this new release. He was a big scary tank kept in a holding cell at the tail end of your romp through the forces of satan, and after you kill him there's these fast, impossibly armored, cunning and clever little mech-like bastards that you have to fight before the final destructive beast herself, Olivia Pierce and the Spider-Mastermind. Â I think it paid off for itself well. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
