MistAche Posted March 3, 2016 Figured there's been enough complaining about what it looks like in the preview... I wrote these passages while thinking about the CYBERDEMON. Sole principle of malice Corrosions of flesh and vein Torrential blood-letting Driven by vacuums of finality Tower of odious carrion The human portrait shattered Bone were shard, nothingness whole Gaping horizon of steel maws As throat of hell on Earth Mass re-designed into downward pulse Heinous in virility Skeins of the doomed and dying Shredding of the womb In wait he lies... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted March 3, 2016 Gotta say it's ridiculous how much the cybie has improved after the hunch was removed. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
RUSH Posted March 3, 2016 Xerge I really like all your photo shopped Cyberdemons. He looks much better with a little fat taken off and the hunch removed. Still though, he's one of the least intimidating demons. And that is complete blasphemy. He should be the scariest of all. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

CreamCheese Posted March 3, 2016 CreamCheese said:*tremolo harmonic minor riffs and blast beats play* Its also a shame that the OST is lame af.. what is with this Industrial stuff? I'm a fan of electronic music but damn they went in the wrong direction with this. Should have been Progressive Metal IMO, a bit of quirky melodics to it, some black-metal riffing, weird time signatures.. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted March 3, 2016 Metal's tendencies toward dark, ritualistic, menacing ideas is all good and everything, but an industrial flavor works too, especially for the UAC areas. The problem is that Mick Gordon's idea of aggressive industrial music is a bit too tame, very underwhelming. It doesn't convey the severity of the situation. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ChickenOrBeef Posted March 3, 2016 This new DOOM has a very sleek, futuristic vibe to it. I think the Electronic/Industrial leaning soundtrack makes a lot of sense. As Goatlord alluded to, I think it would also make a lot of sense of the amount of Metal present in the soundtrack's sound to increase during the Hell portions. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DooM_RO Posted March 3, 2016 They made a new cover, now all they need is to make a new Cyberdemon. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted March 3, 2016 Not gonna happen. Too close to the end of the dev cycle. Now, they did change the imp significantly, but that was probably because the original (while awesome) didn't look very distinctive. The cyberdemon looks distinctive, just not very threatening. They don't have any reason to go and change it at this point. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Voros Posted April 21, 2016 I hear there is a Hell variant of the Cyberdemon called Baalgar or something. Is it confirmed? Are there any screenshots of this demon? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
tuo Posted April 21, 2016 Spoiler Confirmed as in: it's bestiary entry is in the game data. I am quite unsure if the Cyberdemon we saw the whole time is actually the Balgaar. There seem to be two entries in the bestiary, one for the Cyberdemon, one for the Balgaar, but they could detail the same demon. The Balgaar is described as one of the highest ranking demons in hell. One of his weapons is a sword-like potrusion on one arm, which he uses as a melee weapon. The other is a barrage of missiles from the other arm. It is also specifically stated that UAC managed to bring one Balgaar back to their labs for study. In the Cyberdemon entry, there is no mention of how the Cyberdemon looks and what he uses as his weapons. Only the story that the UAC managed to bring one from hell in a "brain-dead" state. To prevent it from dying, they altered his neural pathways so that a small dose of Argent power/hell energy is fed to vital parts so he stays alive, but basically in a coma. This backfired, as some "unknown Mastermind" managed to wake up the Cyberdemon and increase the amount of energy so that he is battle ready. He then was lured into "Holding Pen 6", where he resides since then. I guess that the last scene from the "Fight like Hell"-Trailer might be Doomguy jumping into Holding Pen 6 in Lazarus Labs. I am still unsure of wether these are two different demons/variants, or exactly the same. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Nineball Posted April 21, 2016 Clonehunter said:What the hell is that pink blob behind the Cyberdemon? I thought it was a Manc, but it looks really different. Pain Elemental? Seems to have arms and a wide mouth? I think its just part of the wall. in other part of the screenshot you can see bodies sticking out. Its probably just a huge mass of bodies piled on top of one another and pouring out of the wall. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I'd love t see an appearance of all the old school demons with some new ones showing up. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Zemini Posted April 21, 2016 Spoiler The Balgaar seems too be a larger hellified cousin of the Cyberdemon species; much like the Baron and Hellknight. It has a sword made of bone, more powerful weapons and answers to no one. When I think Balgaar, I think something on the lines of a Balrog from LotR or Diablo. This is my interpretation. He is the biggest bad ass of hell. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

He is the biggest bad ass of hell. I'm in the same boat. What's your guess. What have we seen until now? Spoiler The Cyberdemon CD-587 in Holding Pen 6, allthough he occured in the hell single player trailer and clearly wears some kind of scythe on this right hand? Or the Balgaar from Hell, allthough we see him in what (is speculated) to be Holding Pen 6 in the Fight like Hell Trailer? Seriously, I really like some ideas in this, because I myself am so unsure. And still would applaud id if at some point the "classic" Cyberdemon emerges (either as Balgaar, or the one in Holding Pen 6) as a massive fan service!!!) Edit: He is the biggest bad ass of hell besides the mastermind (and the titans)! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Almonds Posted April 21, 2016 after taking a longer look at the screenshots I believe I can safely conclude and confirm that the mancubus design stopped growing on me. For a concept revolving around 'we designed these demons with their original essence and personality in mind', they really, REALLY dropped the ball hard with it. It's like going to sleep, then waking up the next morning and realizing your dog has a pustule the size of a baseball in the back of the head you were perfectly fine with the day before, and only now you're going 'well that looks kinda bad actually'. the cyber variant would certainly be a lot better if it had flamethrowers, because only then would I end up giving zero fucks about the hell one entirely. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted April 21, 2016 How did they drop the ball, exactly? Granted, I've had little positivity to show toward 2016 Cybie, but I think they've been pretty damn faithful. I mean, the demon is almost too faithful, due to its jawline. In some way it's almost also trying to be faithful to Doom 64. Not just the cacodemon, but look at the baron. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

DoomzRules Posted April 21, 2016 They should just make the Cyberdemon stand up straight, slim him down a bit, make him a bit stronger and bulkier, get rid of the normal legs, replace them with one goat leg and one robot leg, get rid of the moose antlers and replace them with goat horns, and give him an evil facial expression. That and get rid of the two extra eyes.... I mean for fuck's sake, he's not a Hive from Borderlands... As for his death animation? Extremely gory, gibby, and somehow even more bloody than the Doom 64 death animation (which was already pretty bloody IMHO.) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
