Voros Posted February 28, 2016 Xerge said:I really don't understand why they had to give him that stupid hunch, my guess is that they thought it would be a better idea to make him slow so that it makes sense he doesn't run toward you to finish you with one blow, hence they had to make him look slow so that his movements are coherent with his looks. Maybe you'd wonder why he doesn't run toward you if he looked faster and fit and it would seem silly he didn't. Well the classic Cyberdemon didn't need to run as it enormous health and a deadly rocket launcher. Although it was pretty intimidating, such as its walking sound, the muscles, and the gruesome cybernetics that look a pain in the ass to surgeon and the patient (Cybie). But honestly, those legs don't look very fit for running. But the new Cyberdemon has "normal" legs so its possible for it to run. Although its body is saying something else. I guess id thought "the larger the better" idea would fit for Doom 2016. Also, what use would running for the Cyberdemon do, since why would the devs need to? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I have no idea what the guys at ID were thinking, but I guess they wanted to give the new cyberdemon a unique look, so they ditched the "goat shaped" legs this time and saved those for the Hell knight and baron of hell, which I think might have been a bad idea. I would give him a body similar to this one: Spoiler Sure, his body might look similar to the Hell Knight if it looked this way, but with a few modifications here and there I think you could manage to give him his own look, for example giving him the rock like skin/armor they've already used on new cyberdemon 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xerge Posted February 28, 2016 Spoiler not the best quality I can come up with, but you get the idea 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Xerge Posted February 28, 2016 I know that skin texture just doesn't do it, it looks way too soft, making his body look like it could be damaged and ripped apart easily. I think his body needs bigger more defined muscles and a texture that makes his skin and body look much more harder, as if his whole skin was an armor, kinda like the layer of skin that is underneath the new cyberdemon. Even if you look at the old Doom 2 cover artwork you can see that his body looks like an armor covering whatever is beneath him. He also lacks facial features because I pasted the head of the cyberdemon from Doom 3, facial features would definetly help to improve his looks. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Deatheye Posted February 28, 2016 that feel when fanarts are way better than the actual devs designs 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xerge Posted February 28, 2016 So, I gave the new cyberdemon a smaller jaw to see what it would look like: Original: Spoiler 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
AirRaid Posted February 28, 2016 Okay, of all the things you've done, that one actually looks decent. Makes him look a little less flabby. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Job Posted February 28, 2016 Much nicer with the slimmed down jaw. I'm sure there's artistic reasons, like balance or something, but the way the cyberdemon's antlers mirror his "chunky shield arm" and slimmer rocket launcher arm bugs me. It just seems too...deliberate. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I think I figured it out, It seems his big jaw is there to match the shape of legs, the size of his torso and his big hunch, so removing the hunch, changing the size of his torso and changing the size of his legs makes a thiner jaw fit better, and it makes a much better overall cyberdemon. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chezza Posted February 28, 2016 I like it. Just a minor change and yet it feels more menacing and less cartoony. Good work. I.D. - Send. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xerge Posted February 28, 2016 My attempt to make him look thiner and less hunched. Original: Spoiler 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BluePineapple72 Posted February 28, 2016 Holy hell dude, the photoshopped cyberdemon looks sooo much better, I would totally be fine with the that being in the game 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
The_Third_Dino Posted February 29, 2016 That really does look much better. with that minor of a change, I won't be surprised if id changes in a similar way before release since it's so little. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xerge Posted February 29, 2016 If they modified the cyberdemon to make him look similar to that then the game would be almost perfect to me, they'd still need to work on improving the mancubus. I wish I was a 3D artist, if they didn't I'd do it myself. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Deatheye Posted February 29, 2016 head looks really small compared to the rest of his body they need to change his whole head to make it a real cyberdemon and not that cybermoose thing 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Almonds Posted February 29, 2016 y know, i have an itch people really don't think things through when they hold this 'if they change X official thing to Y fanmade stuff it'd become like 1000 times better and then i'd play it' mindset most due to the fact that Y fanmade stuff most of the times involve drastic changes that tend to look good on paper, but utter shite on execution imho 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
CreamCheese Posted February 29, 2016 I'm already okay with CyberMoose, he is what he is, as long as his personality and behaviour is like that of the originals, basically a fast moving terminator who has deadly projectiles, then its fine after all its about gameplay, if they turn him into some kind of hitscan slow moving turret guy i'll be mad. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BluePineapple72 Posted February 29, 2016 I would've put this is in the theories thread, but it makes more sense in here. I don't think this is THE cyberdemon, I think this is so because I doubt iD would reveal one of the most iconic bosses so early. This cyberdemon could be just another type of minion that you fight after killing the real deal 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xerge Posted February 29, 2016 you are right, this is the cybermoose. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

This cyberdemon could be just another type of minion that you fight after killing the real deal Bethesda gave away some little figurines (don't know what they are called) couple of months ago, one of them beeing the Cyberdemon...and it was titled "Cyberdemon". Let's all be serious: the game is basically finished (even got official equivalent of PG-rating in Germany, so it must but basically "complete" when it comes to content) and they won't change a monster now. I also don't like the Cybermoose as much as I liked the original Cyberdemon, because they instill completely different emotions in me. But they won't change it to please us, it is too late in the development cycle, if you ask me. But to each his own, I also dislike the new Mancubus, while others like it. Different people, different taste. I just hope they get the Spider Mastermind "right" (for me), and also: I can't wait for May, Cybermoose or not, I am so much looking forward to the new Doom... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kerrang Posted March 1, 2016 hate the new cyberdeomon, its nothing like cyber+demon, the new design reminds me of Ultralisk from Starcraft, lol. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted March 1, 2016 tuo said:I also don't like the Cybermoose as much as I liked the original Cyberdemon, because they instill completely different emotions in me. You really hit the nail on the head. Some folks here have parodied the tendency for some of us to get into arguments about cartoony versus scary, and how the original game was both. That's just fine and dandy, but I think the artists should have picked a tone and stuck with it. As it stands, it uncomfortably treads water between both styles, and emotionally speaking, that can elicit unpleasant responses. I see the hell knight and think, "That's utterly terrifying and grotesque," then I see the cyberdemon and think, "That's kinda goofy but the design is interesting." I don't want to have that response. I want to actually be far more intimidated by the cyberdemon than the hell knight, since he's clearly a more powerful monster. That said, I'm liking the cyberdemon more and more, even though I'm still trying to get past the horns and the goofy jawline. When he's got his mouth shut, he looks pretty good. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

MistAche Posted March 3, 2016 GoatLord said:Doom's monsters are supposed to be fucking grotesque. From the gangly archvile, to the obese mancubus, to the fleshy revenants, the monster roster is known for its extremes, as well as its sardonic, morbid parodies of humans. That aesthetic simply isn't present with neo-Doom's cyberdemon. This. Good to see the like-mindedness here... old school taste all-round. The thing looks like a Diablo/StarCraft monster, or just some generic b-grade game boss. Needs to look like someone's nightmare... maintaining the mechanical rigidity of the original Cyberdemon. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
MistAche Posted March 3, 2016 Cyberdemon in my mind: Blood drenched/matted hooves, thick inversed goats hind legs, heading up into a rotting mesh-skein of flayed skin across jarred cybernetic thigh muscles. Atop the colossal foundation sits a pure necropolis of hate. A cybernetic tire around it's bust; gaping abyssal hole in it's stomach dripping blood from it's edges. Muscles shredded across muscles. The neck of a fucking boerboel dog on steroids, gigantic chest and lats, torn and hulking back... The head - Utterly nefarious and diabolical smirk smeared across the jaws of hell itself. Thrice the size of a Baron, and quite obviously the motherload alpha. It moves with an aforementioned 'terminator' ferocity, completely devoid of any emotion except total militance. Marches around like an officer in a Waffen SS parade, legs spring out, spine erect.... total killing efficiency. Weapons: 1x Hell Cannon 1x Cloven Hoof Stomp 1x Sweeping Hammer Fist Oh and it's soundtrack is 'Order of the Iron Fist' by Diocletian from the Decimator EP. Yih. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
