Which releases of Doom 2 included a manual?

I have a CD-ROM copy of Doom 2, a GT Interactive release (it includes the MS-DOS 1.7 version of Doom 2 and a 1.666 Doom Shareware in a subfolder), and it is in reasonably good shape in its jewelcase with back artwork and the like, but it has no front insert. Did this version ever come with a front insert or manual? It looks kinda empty without one, especially compared to my Heretic:SOTSS and Hexen discs...

I owned the European "big cardboard box release" (most of which sadly has been lost to time and disorganisation -- I only have the CD (somewhere in the pile of old stuff) now!) which came with a relatively huge manual. Version 1.666 IIRC, distributed by Virgin Interactive.

The one I've got is a GT Interactive release, but it's the "for Windows 95" one and sounds a little different from what you're describing. It has a front insert but it's just a card, not a booklet.

Mine is purchased in 2001, and it's a Collector's Edition release with DOOM, DOOM II and FINAL DOOM all on a CD with Doom95, but sadly without the MASTER LEVELS (blast you, darn incompetent publisher!!!!). This came with just a cover- and CD-print.

Oh, but I recently got the original, IBM 3,5", GT Interactive-published, Virgin-distributed, DOOM II HELL ON EARTH box-package game as a gift from an old friend, and this does indeed come with a manual, complete with pictures of every single item, weapon and monster and a short decription on each.

Another old friend had the ULTIMATE DOOM original release... I ought to maybe hunt him d-- I mean "it", down.
