Use Posted December 5, 2015 Running fast and stable on the PS4 version. Game is..interesting. I'm not making any rash judgement until I can play the real thing, but it's fun, so...that's what matters. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DMPhobos Posted December 5, 2015 While i shouldn't talk about the alpha in detail, i will say this: It is fun. Also the speed is faster than i expected, but i think that i felt that way because i was expectin a slow speed (kinda like doom 3) judging from some comments about how slow the speed was... It's kinda sad to see the poor expectations floating around for the new doom, hope this changes once the game is released, since im having a blast playing the alpha, so i have no doubt that the full game is gonna be great 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Deleted_Account Posted December 5, 2015 It's good to hear that Doom 2016 is surpassing expectations. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Annunakitty Posted December 5, 2015 My PS4 impressions: Multiplayer is relatively fast for a console game, but doesn't really have a "Doom" feel to it. One of my coworkers remarked that it looked like a cross between Halo and Quake which is probably pretty accurate. I still have a better feeling about the game overall than Doom 3 though. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DooM_RO Posted December 5, 2015 I like it more and more the more I play it. I love the map and I'm startinbg to really dig the art style. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
id.dav Posted December 5, 2015 Can anyone explain me why the fuck did I get a PS 4 code? Do my e-mail linked to a PSN? NO! It is linked to steam! Well thanks guys I will defenately enjoy Doom alpha! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kelliegator Posted December 5, 2015 I dunno if I like playing this game on a controller but otherwise it's pretty damn fun. I can imagine this being a more accessible version of Quake. I'm also not used to not having to reload on console shooters but I ain't complaining. xP 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Tritnew Posted December 5, 2015 I'm digging the art style to It, and I feel It goes to Unreal Tournament speeds, Quake mixed Into the bunch since It has the Quad Damage In It, and Halo due to how the players look. It's a freakin' blast. I mean, I go to 30/40 FPS when I got the Antialising disabled, but I'm STILL having a blast. It's worth It. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xaero_Four Posted December 5, 2015 Holy hell I actually got an invite! Would've preferred to have it on steam instead of PS4 but hey I'll take what I can get. I'm having a blast so far. Looks smooth, runs smooth, the pacing is actually pretty good imo, almost if not on par with UT. I know some people say it's not as fast as they would like it, but you gotta take into account not just player speed but the actual combat that ensues. Shit gets hectic man. I'm very pleased with this. Not really sure why some people don't fancy it as much but hey, it's whatevs. Can't wait to see more :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Deleted_Account Posted December 6, 2015 For those that have played the Alpha, how did the weapons handle, did they feel satisfying to use? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Of course they did, the Super Shotgun had a pretty beefy sound, and you could actually hear the plasma rifle shooting Instead of quiet "bloops", all the weapons handled well. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

SSG Feels great, easily the best weapon available on the alpha, all other weapons are pretty good, the only weapon that i didn't liked at all was the static cannon 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

And by that, I mean a VERY wild goose guess. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Nope, there's going to be at least one more Alpha test before the Beta. See below: 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I for one absolutely LOVE this game already, even if only in the alpha stage. It's going to be something great. From the gameplay, and I'm obviously basing this solely on an alpha build of the MP portion, the gameplay is solid as a rock. And if the game handles anything like it does in this test, the SP is gonna be a shitload of fun to play :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

ChickenOrBeef Posted December 7, 2015 Yeah, as I've said before, this game just has a very "sleek" feel to it. The environments and items all have a rounded, smooth surface, which is very pleasing to the eye. The sound effects when picking up items and when double jumping sound very futuristic and crisp. And most importantly, movement through the map feels smooth due to the constant movement speed (no sprinting) along with the double-jumping and mantling abilities easily allowing you to hop around and grab ledges. Not to mention the map is designed with function taking precedence over realism, thus making it easier to move around. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DooM_RO Posted December 7, 2015 Most people of the closed Bethesda forum like the game. Of course, some dislike it but from my observation, there are more people who like it than dislike it. I ended up really liking it. At first I had a "that's it?" feel but the more I played it the more I liked it. Some things, like the weapon animations and sounds need to be tweaked but on the whole this is shaping up to be a really solid addition to the franchise. The map was really well designed too. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

DooM_RO Posted December 7, 2015 One thing that should be mentioned is how the art style was made. It seems to make that wall details and the overall shape of the levels were meant to be appreciated on the fly (meaning while you are running). There are not many small pipes or small computer screens like in Doom 3 that made you stop and look at them, in fact the computer screens in the alpha were frigging huge, almost out of place at first which vaguely reminded me of how detailing in Doom is done. Just watch the E3 trailer again, you'll see what I mean. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Buckshot Posted December 7, 2015 The fact that after two Alpha's, I still find that single map with the limited loadout and stuff in it more fun than Battlefront or Rainbow Six Siege should tell you something. Not that Battlefront or RSS are bad... they are fun to play. but after a match or two its like "eh, time to play something else for a bit." But the Alpha map was just addictive. my first few minutes during first alpha was like "this is it?", then after a couple matches.... boom. couldn't stop playing. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Tritnew Posted December 7, 2015 The DOOM Alpha was In fact... Incredible, to me at least because I'm kinda more dedicated to DOOM then most of my friends (who like DOOM 3 more then the others, and Brutal DOOM... Ya know). But I really liked the sound, the weapons were smooth, the double jumping and parkour were pretty nice to mess around with. And when things got hectic, that's where the action showed. Trust me, If they keep this speed, and weapon smoothness and sound In the SP campaign, It'll probably be the best campaign I've played In a game for a while. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Cire Posted December 7, 2015 I actually managed to get a Steam key for this. :) But as I suspected I couldn't play it because my hardware isn't good enough. :( 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReFracture Posted December 8, 2015 I only got 5 or 6 games in but it was still fun. I had already put like 12 hours into the last one. Really my biggest feeling is wanting to try other content, not going to get that out of Alpha tests though. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
