Linguica Posted December 19, 1999 So, is anyone looking forward to any Doom stuff? Doom Millennium just announced their 4/2/00 release date, and it looks quite cool. I think that Doom2000 might just surprise a lot of people. And of course we're all waiting for The Darkening E2 and Mordeth E2/E3, but who hasn't been for the last two years... 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted December 19, 1999 What the hell happened to Ninja Doom? They put up the stupid "Prepare yourself" sign half a year ago. What the hell were we supposed to prepare for, no news whatsoever for months on end. At least take down the damn prepare sign and put up some news whether you've made any progress or not or tell the news sites that you are not dead. Don't give us any shit like "Damn it, my computer blew up and I lost everything including Ninja Doom." The TC looked like it would be good if it ever got done. If you were so damn close that you wanted to put up the stupid prepare sign, you could at least do the remaining work. Now that its vacation time, you'd better get your asses in gear and finish the project. The other TCs have made some progress and gave updates. They have not made much progress, but thats better than completely forgetting about a project. The other big projects all look fairly cool and I'm looking forward to their eventual releases, as well as that for Ninja Doom, assuming it ever is released. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted December 19, 1999 Could you make it so that a message posts without a subject line? Its very annoying to type a message and not have it post just because you forgot to put in a subject line. Thank You. 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted December 19, 1999 I agree. What's the subject line for? Don't we already have a subject? Of course, if you don't want a subject you could just put a single space in there. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Karlo Posted December 19, 1999 I´m looking forward on Speed Demons, that seems like a good and original TC. Ofcourse i´m looking forward to most TC´s like Zombie Doom and so on... 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest new_name Posted December 19, 1999 Im waiting for the Mockery. I know it sounds stupid but I think it will be hillarious to see the crappiest levels ever made. That shouldnt have taken this long. Its been a year since theyve updated their page for god sakes. Im also looking forward to Doom2000 and DoomMillenium and of course Mordeth. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted December 19, 1999 I've been looking forward to the Dracula TC for Doom 2 but I've about given up hopes of ever seeing it completed. I love the theme and would assist in anyway if I could (except levels as I'm still in the basic stages). With Zombies TC being discontinued I was hoping that perhaps the Dracula TC would be able to use some of the resources as place holders so a more complete beta/test could start to form. I guess not though. The Dracula TC home page is at http://members.aol.com/jwald90726/dracula.htm 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Caleb Posted December 19, 1999 if theres one thing i cant stand about the doom community, its that we get word of new projects that are never completed. Linguica, im in full agreement with you about the darkening E2 and mordeth E2 and E3 episodes. there have been countless numbers of projects that have been abandoned, for whatever so-called reason. now i realize that theres life beyond doom and doom2, but good God, do we really have to know about projects that just got started when, as far as i can see, will be at least 2 years in the making before they get released? i do have 1 nice thing to say, i have all the confidence in the world that team tnt wont let us down with their imminent release of doom 2000. merry x-mas doomworld:-) 0 Share this post Link to post
Hyena Posted December 19, 1999 I agree with new_name. By the way, if that project gets cancelled, I'll begin my own version (if I can get hosted, anyway) If there's anything about making levels I know, it's what *not* to do. And I'm pretty good about updates. And then, of course, my levels will not only be crappy, but stupid and elaborate. I have a description of a basic mock level in the Sidewatch comments, if you want to look at it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Fanatic Posted December 19, 1999 I know there are a lot of projects that seem to be in waiting for whatever reason, and some are just taking a very long time to get done. One of the hardest things for a MOD, PC, or TC author to do is to simply wrap up the project, stamp it done, and release it. I'm feeling that with every level I do for QDOOM, and I'm sure it will be maddening for me to finally release it to the public just because of how long I've been working on it and how damn big it is. It's going to feel very odd to not come home and work on it, as I have been for almost 9 months every day. Wasn't DOOM World making a list of all the projects that are being done? That might help with letting everyone know what's going on. We authors could email DOOM World and let them know our progress as we make it, and they could update the projects page, that way people could glance at a single page and see what's going on with all projects, and get some basic details like what the project is "in a nutshell", when the homepage for a project was last updated, percentage complete, expected release date, on hold, cancelled, open to be taken over by another person or group, etc.
-Marc >Fanatic's Asylum 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted December 19, 1999 DooM Resurrection!!!:P What I'm looking forward to most would probably be QDooM and Darkening E2 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted December 19, 1999 Greetings, fellow DOOMers. I just can't wait till the final release of The Darkening, Hellstorm:Dark Ascention, Twice Risen, Everybody Dies, and of course DOOM2000. I'm also kinda wondering if anybody out there wants to see a sequel to Batman DOOM. Anyone??? -Laters. Eugene E. Sloupsky. A TRUE DOOM FAN 4 LIFE AND BEYOND!! 0 Share this post Link to post
Afterglow Posted December 19, 1999 Ninja Doom is still going on... just some other 'cool stuff' is going on which I probably shouldn't mention... The new engine is supposed to now be based off ZdoomGL altho' I _think_ they'll still be the dos software engine (not sure tho')... just wait until after the new year and maybe some news'll pop up from us :)
Darkening E2? Well I haven't done a thing for it and mostly needed done is finishing off about five maps... most are completely but as Marc said, it's just the 'wrapping up' part that's hard... and the fact I haven't done a thing for the project since like September. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Tawney Posted December 19, 1999 just making sure im not posting as "anonymous" anymore;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted December 19, 1999 I'm interested to see The Darkening Ep2 (not least because I worked on Ep1, but not the second part, and want to compare!). Whilst Mockery hasn't caught my imagination the way it has some people's, I agree that it should have been possible to finish it a lot quicker than this! I'll be downloading Doom2000 when the full release eventuates, though I am not sure I'll like it ... I loathed Icarus, though Evilution was generally pretty good. In the meantime, for those who need something to do, the 32-level WAD "Demonfear" (DMONFEAR.WAD) is now complete and (barring horrid glitches in the playtesting of the last maps) should hit the incoming directory of ftp.cdrom.com on 21 December 1999. There'll be a (really simple) web-page with half a dozen screenshots and a place to get the file set up around the same time. For those that already have DFEAR1-5, I'll also upload a copy of DFEAR6 to ftp.cdrom.com. 0 Share this post Link to post
prower Posted December 19, 1999 ...pimp my wad while i'm around. helios 3 will contain 3 hubs (with at least 3 levels each), interaction with the environment, voice acting, a ton of scripted sequences, lots of areas to explore, and some other stuff you'll wanna download it for. (not all of the preceding is necessarily true) but for all of those who haven't you should download helios 2 and you won't regret it. it has three action-packed levels, superb lighting, and even has been touched by such popular editors as Mike Watson (Cyb, author of the Zort series) and Derek MacDonald (Afterglow, author of SacrificeDM and Jagermorder). all it requires is a boom-compatible engine, like mbf or zdoom, to run! all of this for the low low price of $0.00! so download it and stuff. man that was a lot of shameless self-plugging. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest ricrob Posted December 19, 1999 release mordeth ep2 already...and someone find out where that sveedish chef ola is...he's the one sittin' on D2... 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted December 19, 1999 You know what? I think the DOOM community is really lazy. When was the last time we saw megawad for any DOOM game? Forget those stupid TCs!! I don't want to play a TOTAL conversion!! I want some fresh new DOOM!! Why can't someone get together and make something half as decent as Requiem? I want WADS!!! WADS WADS WADS!! GIVE ME WADS!! I AM SO BORED!! WADS WADS WADS AHAHHGHHHHHHAHHAHAHHHH HAHAHHHHHH!!! *Ahem*.. I want to see some wads. 0 Share this post Link to post
Test-0 Posted December 20, 1999 Don't you just hate it when TC's or what not do this. They do something, and don't tell? I have it! You bunch of lazy peoples! If you have the time to do what ever crazy stuff you do, then update your $%^& pages! Ahem. :) On a lighter note, I... ummm...... well...... oh wait. I forgot. :) Ahem. Don't be lazy and update your pages more often. :P END: RANT. ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Afterglow Posted December 20, 1999 Little do you know what's being talked about in the shadows of the doom community muahaha.. and adam w, please don't say there's more 'rushed 2 room Requiem maps' in demon fear :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted December 20, 1999 Which is not to say that they weren't small. So are the new maps for levels 26-30 of DFEAR, though not as small as the Requiem ones (two of which I think were really too small). I'll be doing some bigger stuff in the coming months though. Any publicising it big time. I have no shame :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest balanco Posted December 20, 1999 I'd rather be able to download a TC with most of the levels completed, than to never be able to see any of it. It would be a damn waste not to release it at all, and let it sit on disks collecting dust. 0 Share this post Link to post
