Funny. Suddenly these pretentious people decide that THEY, not the author's of WADs, decide whether or not it's a BIG DEAL to have their hard work stolen. "It's just Doom" "The game is old as dirt". As for using WADs with permission, VERY few text files say "Use this level in your WAD!", and those that do even ask for credit for their work.

He had no right to steal other's hard work to make his life easier. If he was such a hard worker he'd make his own damn levels. Birdman, you had no right. Not only did you violate copyrights of existing levels, but the Hexen textures are copyrighted as well. I hope you're really proud.

When you would flame everybody for using Heretic/Hexen textures you'd have to flame half the community! And what about the Q1/2 textures everybody uses? Has anybody of you ever asked id to use them???

This guy has stolen other people's work, and it's absolutely unacceptable... he hasn't even MENTIONED using other people's wads or listing the original authors of the levels. There has to be some sort of penalty for doing this; otherwize there is no protection control at all. Absolutely nacceptable.

Heh, copyrighted material is posted up all over on countless Doom pages in the form of pictures, graphics, and sounds, etc. In the true sense of violating a copyright, aren't all those web-page authors just as guilty?

Until someone pointed it out to me, I didn't realize there was a controversy surrounding Birdman's tc. I've had something posted on Doom Wad Station for a couple of months now with pics and a link to his page because, honestly - you can see that a shitload of work went into that sucker. I've been designing levels for quite a few years now and I know what it takes to make a truly playable level - not one of those cookie cutter pieces of crap that turn up on a cd for 6 bucks every couple of years. Granted, the graphics (sprites, etc...) aren't original - in fact they are very Hexen but the levels are difficult and enjoyable to play and isn't that what counts. We're all fans of a game that is only alive because people keep pushing the envelope with the engine and because other people are creative enough to make levels that others want to play. Birdman does state that all of his levels are his own original creations so all of you that are saying he stole maps or parts of maps - prove it!! Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. I can't believe that all this fuss is being created over an addon to Doom. It's work like Birdman's that keeps the game alive for new and old players all over the globe. If you haven't seen the mod then you don't have a right to comment on how good or bad it is and if you haven't given it a fair chance or proven that he "stole" others work then you are guilty of a witch-hunt. Play the levels, enjoy the cool zdoom effects he has in place and if you think he stole someone elses work - PROVE IT!!

I have only seen substantial proof that Birdman used Eternal Resources. He had permission for that, and he acknowledged it. I don't see any significant proof that he stole anything that is being claimed stolen. You can't accuse somebody of stealing unless you have good proof of it. There is no proof of it, and the reputation of his project has been ruined because of this whole incident. I suggest that somebody come up with some real proof of this matter (screenshots, scripts, etc.) or he might have a good reason to take action against these accusations. I stand undecided on this matter, but I believe in innocent until proven guilty.

If some one copyed my work and gave me credit i still would not really happy with them because its lame if you cant make your own shit, I mean come on its not that hard...? Any way birdman, giving these people credit for there good efforts of making levels and such, was a good idea, because if they had a copyright you would be fucked :) Stealthy
