Guest balanco Posted February 15, 2000 On a couple occasions, I had to split up a file from someone else's computer, and copy the chunks to 3 or more floppies. When it came time to copy the files to my computer, one of the disks would just happen to have an error on it, (either that, or for some reason my drive wouldn't be able to read it correctly). Even after salvaging the zip file, I would find discover that the damage occoured in the wad I was copying, rendering it useless . Needless to say, it's maddning, especialy when you can't access the machine you copied the files from until the next day :( 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest beigesmite Posted February 15, 2000 c'mon, everyone knows it was ugly, but it doesn't matter. it wasn't aligned, and textures switched weirdly (like brown stone in one room to concrete in the next), but it was fun to play. if you really care about how pretty the levels are, go play unreal. doom is fun becase it is unrealistic and stuff. not that some levels aren't great eye candy, 'cause some are. now i'm just typing and complaining for no reason. blah blah blah. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted February 15, 2000 I'm on level 12 and so far, this is the most fun I've ever had with DOOM! A few nits: Level 10 is too easy. Some of the timed events, like the lowering pillar at the end of one level( 9, is it?) take too long. This is going to drive the demo recorders crazy. One early level has a key VERY well hidden behind an unmarked door. You're going to fix this, right? In Hell Revealed 1, if you entered a room and found Armageddon, you could bugger through the way you came. HR2 would often TRAP you in that room and force you to fight your way out. Nice! Thank you, thank you, Chorozon! After I finished Hell Revealed, I thought nothing could challenge me anymore! ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Chrozoron Posted February 15, 2000 theres a zip on the page which fits on a floppy.. ill also put up a beta bug page soon heh, listing the things ill change in the final build.. It seems ill have to upload _yet_ another beta version first however.. to fix that rather critical map07 skill1-3 bug. :( i guess i was unlucky using that randomizer program. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Chrozoron Posted February 15, 2000 final update heh (hopefully.) no need to download this version though, unless you have a problem with idclipping a bit on map07 on skill1-3.. 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted February 16, 2000 Yeah, I played that level too! I think it takes 3-½ minutes for it to come down! Nasty!! I DID actually manage to survive with 100% kills on that one! But yeah, I thought it would never come down!! :-b 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted February 16, 2000 Blasphemy?? Plutonia *superior*?? Are you outta yer mind??? For cryin' out loud...some people... 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted February 16, 2000 If you actually go back and read what I said about Plutonia and HR, you'll realize that I didn't compare the two, fachrissake. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Mattrim. Posted February 16, 2000 You stated that Hell Revealed was designed on the "same standards" set forth by The Plutonia Experiment. By suggesting that the two thirty-two level sets were designed with the "same standards", you imply direct comparison between the two. You claim that Hell Revealed is not "ugly" and state that the visually appealing Plutonia Experiment served as a "standard" for Hell Revealed. How this can be, when The Plutonia Experiment is so much more attractive to the eye than Hell Revealed, is beyond me. Additionally, you state that The Plutonia Experiment cannot be superior to Hell Revealed. How is this possible, when Hell Revealed did not live up to the "standards" you seem to believe it was built on, is again beyond me. Explain your logic. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted February 17, 2000 Okay. A little lesson in taking the wheels out of the single rut and putting them into different grooves of thought: Stating that HR was designed on the same standards as Plutonia is not comparing them, by any means; it means that Yonatan and Haggay had Plutonia in mind when they were designing their maps; to wit: many monsters, smaller, compact maps, and an emphasis placed on shooting and reflexes to survive. Your logic bewilders me: how can I state that HR was better looking since Plutonia was better looking than it?? That's YOUR statement, in a nutshell. You're putting your opinion forward as "fact", when the reality is that "opinion" is not always very close to actual fact. MY opinion is that HR was equal to Plutonia. YOUR opinion is that Plutonia is superior to HR. Now that that's sorted out, it's become a pissing contest. As for an explanation of my logic, it really needed no explanation; it was self-explanatory. Essentially: HR not ugly. HR like Plutonia in way. Umgawa. Any five year old could understand it. Although a teenager might have problems. You're reading far too much into a simple statement and drawing nonsense conclusions: I never stated that HR was better than Plutonia. Get that straight. They are "equals", as far as I'm concerned. You think Plutonia is better. Okay, I can handle that without having a conniption fit...I understand the basic concept of differing opinions. Others, however, cannot bear to hear anyone else's opinion as it comes in conflict with their set and concrete perception of the world around them. "They're wrong and stupid for thinking differently than me!" Get over it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Mattrim. Posted February 17, 2000 I can handle differing opinions. I asked you only to clarify your words and offer the rationale behind your thinking. If there is one of us who cannot handle a different viewpoint, it is you. Rather than base your 'argument' on intellectual gymnastics and social prowess, you have resorted, time and again, to petty name-calling and immature banterings. 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted February 17, 2000 All this chatter about opinions and statements is putting me to sleep, so let me just say that HR2 looks way better than Plutonia, for what it's worth.. *Yawn*, mmm snoozy... 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Risen Posted February 17, 2000 So people are immature. Big deal, it happens, they're stupid. Learn to live with it, you'll be doing it your whole life. Anyway... HR2 Beta looks great, there are a few bugs but then it IS beta... looking forward to a full release... I never played original HR, this beta might just convince me to do so. Great work for eveyone involved - my compliments to you all. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted February 18, 2000 Okay, I clarified. I demonstrated that I can handle different viewpoints. But when have I resorted, "time and again, to petty name-calling and immature banterings"? Have you even READ my posts? Oooh...I see. You think that every single Anonymous User post is mine. Well, they aren't. I do not know what you mean by your statements of name calling...since when did I call anyone names?? And "immature banterings"??? Another thing--since when does arguing that your viewpoint is absolute fact, as you so obviously did--count as "intellectual gymnastics and social prowess"? Your attack on *my opinion* was childish and immature in itself. It's hardly "intellectual gymnastics and social prowess" to make fun of someone's opinion. It's downright stupid. How's that for name-calling? 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted February 18, 2000 You're right--it is boring. It's also irritating when every opinion you have is attacked by someone, for no other reason than to prove that they are better than you. That's insane. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest silverflesh Posted February 18, 2000 HR2 looks great so far; the 1-3 skill settings need some work, but UV seems to be bleedingly difficult...just right! 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Mattrim. Posted February 18, 2000 Never have I 'made fun' of your opinion. I stated mine, and subsequently supported it. You did likewise, after I asked for further clarification. I do not consider debate to be 'attacking' or 'making fun'. Also, yes, I did think that every Anonymous User response, to my initial and subsequent post, was yours. In order to prevent such confusion in you future, you should create an account for yourself. And as for maturity...your (Friday Feb 18 08:27:21 2000) proved my point exactly. Thank you. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted February 19, 2000 Enough's enough. We're not doing anything constructive here; it's pointless. We have opinions. We both acted slightly immature. End of story. 0 Share this post Link to post
