Mordeth Posted March 19, 2000 At Fraggle's Rock you can find a new progress report on SMMU's network support. It already has the capability to let people join a server (not an ongoing game) after starting and internet server look-up. ResDe (who is the coder behind NetDoom) will also join up to help developing a Win32 version of this Doom DOS port. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest citrus Posted March 20, 2000 Win32 SMMU! Woohoo! Excellent! That, and the ability to join ongoing games would be darn cool. Not to mention that SMMU doesn't have mlook. Yummy! 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted March 20, 2000 yeah it does. what are you on, billy? 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Daggah Posted March 20, 2000 ...is a freaking working key binding system!! What's up with that...I had to go edit the config file by HAND...I mean, what is this port trying to do, emulate the user-friendliness of DoomGL? 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted March 20, 2000 Uh yeah. Someone explain that to me. 0 Share this post Link to post
Afterglow Posted March 20, 2000 Ola SMMU will not have in-game joining as Fraggle has to do a lot of restructuring for it to be successful (legacy has this implemented but the netspeed sucks) and smmu does have mlook foo. 0 Share this post Link to post
fraggle Posted March 20, 2000 i'm working on it at the moment actually. so the next version should have some key bindings. And I'm not sure why the previous update showed anonymous and not my name, in case it does it again you can take this message as being written by fraggle. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Daggah Posted March 21, 2000 ...I like SMMU. It runs considerably faster than ZDoom does in 640x400; it was just an inconvenience about the key-binding issue. Also, the original bios on my video card doesn't have any real VESA 2.0 support (it sucks big-time, but not just because of that), but once I downloaded a new bios tsr thingy, it works fine. SMMU is good, but to have it have a glaring ommision (imo!) like this is pretty bad. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest GreyWolf Posted March 21, 2000 I can't bloody well get SMMU (Primarily because I don't have any access at home to the internet as of yet.). BTW someone tell Fraggle that he has yet to e-mail me the modem test version. 0 Share this post Link to post
Julian Posted March 21, 2000 fraggle is making a great job... remember this is a early version. I'm sure it's gonna kickass ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
