Guest Carnage Galore Posted June 13, 2000 It was the Pain Elemental in the Spirit World with the Shotgun And all this time, I thought it was Prof. Plum... 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 13, 2000 I think e1m5 is the best level, and my favorite monster is probably the arachnothron, just love the sound when you kill it (it`s a relief), and my favorite weapon is the super shotgun. Ps! The lanuage is Norwegian. My language. Though I speak and write "nynorsk" while this is "bokmål" "Nynorsk" = New Norwegian "Bokmål" = Book Language. Thi hi 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted June 13, 2000 My real choices would have to be E2M2, super shotgun, and the Imp (the Bazooka guy from ObTiC also kicks ass :) ). But what's everyone's favourite MIDI? Mine definately has to be the music of E1M5. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest LordUnum Posted June 13, 2000 Mine would have to be E1M5, too. Honorable mention to the music from Map 18 & 27 ("Waiting for Romero to play" I believe...). Ba, forgot to give a reason for my choosing E1M3 as my fav. Doom map. Well, playing through the beginning of the shareware Doom released a few days after "Doomsday '93" on Ultra-Violence, already amazed at the sound effects being pumped through my Pro Audio Spectrum 16 card, and the stunning visuals, I confronted these horrible, fast-moving demons in numbers. E1M3, from the beginning, provided me with endless hours of enjoyment (and keyboard/CPU smacking frustration hehe) taking down all the enemies, and nailing down all the secrets (without saving), the opportunity to witness the first true "special" effect I REALLY took notice of in Doom (the bridge crossing the lethal slime pit, and the long hallway opening up out of nowhere, leading into what you must believe the first time through is a BAD experience!), and BOY.... my slow keyboard fingers really made it agonizing at times maneuvering/shooting/dodging (hehe what dodging?), but truly fulfilling in the end. It was my Doom "baptism by fire". :-) No goin' back. Oh yea, and E2M2, E2M7, and E3M2 scared the sheeeeeit outta me. ;-) 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 13, 2000 Nothing beats the plasma gun. Favourite enemy? Well of course you gotta hate them all with a vengeance. But nothing is scarier than killing a room full of badasses and then having an Arch Vile run in.. you just KNOW it's the end there... 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest OPiUM Posted June 13, 2000 The Factory from DooM ][, plasma rifle, Arch Vile,Mancubus or Arachnotron 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 13, 2000 ok. map=tricks and traps, of course (the first time) weapon=plasma gun (hate all og id's rocket launchers) monster=100s of undead guys / mancubus the evidence? I just got doom trilogy for £8 today, and i'm six hours in and just finished ultimate doom + thy flesh consumed. DAMN THAT FIRST LEVEL OF "TFC"!!! 0 Share this post Link to post
stphrz Posted June 14, 2000 Man that first level is a bitch isn't it. Nine fricking little blue health bottles..... 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted June 14, 2000 I can't be bothered to mail Doomworld (it's 1:30 am here, I'm tired), so I'll put this here. NiGHTMARE's Haunt updated (twice): http://haunt.8m.com/doom 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest E1ghtball Posted June 14, 2000 I'd go for E1mx, the imp or Baron, and the SSG(chu-chunk-BOOM!) or RL. damnit, I can't narrow it down to just one in each category.... 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 14, 2000 Map is 'Gate to Limbo', weapon is super shotgun, and enemy has got to be mancubus. 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted June 14, 2000 e2m5 (I admit it does't play best, but makes you feel you're "out there"), the imp, the rocket launcher, and the intermission music of doom2 0 Share this post Link to post

Guest Confusion Posted June 14, 2000 Why is the imp so popular? The stupid thorny bastards... Favourite music is E3M1. Da da da da, d-da da da da, da da da da da, da da da, DA DA DA! Sorry...just ignore me. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest XMark Posted June 14, 2000 E1M7 cause it's got awesome architecture, and the imp and the shotgun. It's awesome how one well-placed shotgun blast will blow an imp away, and you gotta love that burp-ish death sound! Real satisfying! Favourite music is definitely the E1M8. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest XMark Posted June 14, 2000 ...but I HATE HATE HATE those pain-in-the-ass elementals! 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 14, 2000 This is too easy... MAP07, arch-vile, BFG. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 14, 2000 Map 27 "Monster Condo" Revenent "Still scares the piss out of me" and the Chainsaw "Nothing like having a chainsaw shoved up you your ass!" 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 14, 2000 E1M5 is a great level and the music has to be my favorite. Honorable mention goes to E2M2 music and level, E1M7 music and level, E1M8 (great end level) and great music, but my all time favorite level has to be E2M4 - Most quintessential DOOM level - really got the atmosphere. E3M4 also rules - goddamnit, there isn't a level that doesn't kick ass! They all have their place in DOOM. Favorite weapon - RL - gotta love melting former humans :) DOOM 2 doesn't evoke the memories the way the original DOOM does - Least favorite level in DOOM would have to be E4M4 - nothing to it - disappointing. Monster Condo from DOOM 2 is a dope level, also liked The Courtyard - Let the baddies do all the work :) (and one of the better songs from DOOM2) I also liked MAP09. MAP14 seemed a little out of place from the rest! MAP26 should have been the penultimate level or should have been MAP 28. Of, and can't forget Spirit World - great level. In conclusion, this is what I have to say: You know it's a good game when you really have a hard time saying which level, weapon and song you like the best! E1M3 had awesome layout and atmosphere - love the secrets to the secret level! Oh, anyone know what you're supposed to do with all the Baron of Hells on E1M4's secret? 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Carnage Galore Posted June 14, 2000 Speaking of Pain Elementals, that was a terrible waste of them (well, all but the last few) in The Pit (Map09) because of that 20 Lost Soul limit. Since that is their only attack, they are completely useless until there are less than 20 of them around. By that time, I'm almost finished with the map. A real shame... And as for the Arch Vile... You're walking along, shooting enemies at will. You hear a door open far behind you, but continue on to that key. You get the key and turn around and walk back, noticing a few less bodies on the ground. You just know you killed an Arachnotron there, but you don't pay much attention to it and look for some much needed health...until you walk around the corner and see about 30 enemies walking and floating toward you. Then the yellow flames appear... 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 14, 2000 I forgot to say which monster is my favorite: The Baron of Hell of course. coolest sounds, coolst death animation - just falls apart. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 14, 2000 Doom: e1m1,e1m2,e1m3,e1m4,e1m5,e1m6,e1m7,e1m8,e1m9,e2m1,e2m2,e2m3,e2m4,e2m5,e2m6,e2m7,e2m8,e2m9,e3m1,e3m2,e3m3,e3m4,e3m5,e3m6,e3m7,e3m8,e3m9. Doom2: 1-32. Guest Kokistos Posted June 15, 2000 Maps: Deimos Lab (E2M4) and Phobos Anomaly (E1M8) are full of the right atmosphere. Sever the Wicked (E4M3) is a great mamy-player DM or coop (you read that right) level. The Living End (MAP29) was a perfect "next to last" level. I have to go with Deimos Lab as my favorite--everything, from the quiet music to that "giant floating head" (that's what it was to me) appearing from seemingly nowhere, was done to perfection. I just wish I could find a registered Doom v1.2 so I could see the demo again. Enemy: Without a doubt, the Baron of Hell. I remember when I would walk freely into a room, suddenly hear a high-pitched wail, and be paralyzed for an instant before running for cover from green hell plasma. It took me quite a while to realize I didn't always need a rocket launcher to get him. The Arch-Vile was damn scary too--if the mood is right, the "charging up" sound can still make me jump. Weapons: The shotguns, especially the original. It was my best companion through the corridors of the Deimos Lab. All in all, Doom was a better game than Doom 2. The textures were better, the levels were more atmospheric, and the music was WAY better. Give me Sinister over Demon's Dead any day! 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted June 15, 2000 My favorite weapon is the super shotgun, my favorite enemy is the cyberdemon-they still scare the crap outa me, and my favorite level is either map 31 or 32-I love Wolfenstein. 0 Share this post Link to post
