AndrewB Posted July 18, 2000 Be critical? Sure, I can do that! You're the boss! Would you want me to bring out the gool ol' sieve and drain away the low-quality levels? See, I'm not too sure exactly what you've got in mind in terms of doing reviews, but I'm highly flexible. Maybe something like just review the top 5 or so each week? Just tossing around ideas.. Or, if I did come across that kind of extrememly low-quality level, maybe I don't have to ignore it. Want me to say "Basically just one level, three rooms, and a whole lotta Cyberdemons. I can't imagine why anyone would to play this kind of level, let alone make it, but it's here in case you're into these kinds of levels." Or, if you want, I could as far as to say "Another failed attempt at a DOOM level. Three rooms, a bunch of Cyberdemons, pretty much just junk. Better luck next time!" ... If I were to choose, I would probably pick the former. I usually don't get very nasty in my reviews. But whatever you've got in mind, I could do it. :-b 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Sandman Posted July 18, 2000 Why not have more than one reviewer? This would certainly balance the judgement. Anyway Andrew has my vote. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted July 18, 2000 Maybe a comment thread type way to have various people make judgements on the quality of the levels released. That way we would also see debates occaisonaly. -mantra 0 Share this post Link to post
Grul Posted July 18, 2000 "Why not have more than one reviewer? This would certainly balance the judgement. Anyway Andrew has my vote." Balance the judgement? Let's not take this too seriously. Those notes that AndrewB make (its pretty sure it'll be him, I assume) are most to be considered as very raw non-subjective guidelines, if I have understood things right. He just describes the level and what it requires, and then it is up to us if we like 30 cyberdemons in a small room or not. Who knows, some perhaps likes to see if he can enter IDDQD fast enough... 0 Share this post Link to post
Swedish Fish Posted July 18, 2000 This sounds like a great idea and everyone agrees. Most people agree AndrewB is worthy to do it. Take action! I want to wake up tommorrow and see a "newstuff chronicle"! 0 Share this post Link to post
prower Posted July 18, 2000 I'll keep your shoes nice and shiney and make fun of crappy levels! Oh wait, I don't play Doom anymore, nevermind. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted July 18, 2000 Definately the man for the job. If I disagree I'll re-review on TI ;) 0 Share this post Link to post

Guest Psycho Posted July 19, 2000 Definately, AndrewB is the guy for the job. He has already voiced his willingness to give up his social life. Anyways he has 9 votes, including mine. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Anonymous User Posted July 19, 2000 So what happened to Sir Robin? Talk about a leetass review site... What happened to 'im? Did he fall off the face of the earth? Turbo I {KEA} remember honor DM wads rock 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Risen Posted July 19, 2000 I was hoping something like this would come along... I never really download much unless I know it's worth it. I would prefer a mostly unopinionated descriptive format, with maybe a line at the end that says "I thought it sucked." or whatever. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jon Posted July 19, 2000 Probably still high and updating his doomnation site.. unaware of its, not there ness. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest ZBrox Posted July 20, 2000 Comment threads would work the best. Possibly moderated by AndrewB? That way, we could have a diversity of opinions about a level and we would still weed out the sucky ones (we all know what sux don't we). Also, how about resurecting gamers.org's "The All-Time Best DooM levels"????? 0 Share this post Link to post
