what is the name of the final boss in doom 2 and who the hell is he supposed to be??????

The final boss doesn't have a name besides "boss" and he's supposed to be the biggest demon you've ever seen, and his thrashing limbs destroy untold lengths of hell's surface.
There isn't much info about him, and nobody really likes him, anyway.

As far as I know it's called Baphomet (found in Final Doom story).

Some people call it "Icon of Sin", but that is only the name of the level. :P

I have been playing doom since release, but sad to say I never went past level 3 single player, I got hooked into DM play from day one on a BBS so was playing 4 player doom every day using Sirdoom I think it was, should really settle down and one day have a go at single player :)

He's probably one of the guys who was part of the DooM design team.

Are you talking about the head on the stick behind the demon's brains? That's Jon Romero's head, so basically, he's the end boss. That wierd thing he says when you first teleport into the room played backwards says, "To win the game you must kill me, Jon Romero."
