AstroBoy Posted February 18, 2003 Wow, just played my first DM online. I was in 2nd place! Awesome! This takes me waaaay back to playing over modem with my buddies. Anyway, what time do most people come on and play? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

AstroBoy Posted February 19, 2003 Hmm. Well I'm here in Canada. GMT -5. Eastern Time to be exact. I have no clue when ppl play. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Ya, I do that cos that's afternoon in America, so that's when most players are on. Haven't played Doom online for a couple of months though, so I can't remember if that's the case with it, but it definitely is with most online games etc. By the way, remember it's BST at the moment, GMT+1 - I made the mistake of forgetting that when posting something last year. I remember thinking fod was mad cos he lived in the UK but reckoned he had GMT+1 :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
yarish Posted May 20, 2003 Wow... I'm so glad I came here... I never knew about IDE before reading this thread. How come it doen't have support for Legacy? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gherkin Posted May 21, 2003 No it doesnt. That was the initial reason why Doom Connector was built. However, all I got were requests to make support for all kinda popular ports. It does now. And more than before, ever, anywhere. Still legacy is most played :\, which im trying to change, with little success :( People got to open their eyes. EDIT: Since a couple days the legacy masterserver is back up, but its not really being used. Â 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Purp Posted June 21, 2004 (edited) ZoneLAN's back? Cool, I thought it was gone for good. Edited May 31, 2023 by Purp 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Raz Posted November 10, 2004 I've patched my doom2.wad to 1.9 but I'm getting kicked out of games straight away. Last weekend I was able to play using my unpatched wad so I don't really understand what's going on. I'm using zdaemon and doom connector. OH. And I have just downgraded from broadband to dial-up, sadly. Does that make any real difference? Should I just give up? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
CodeImp Posted November 10, 2004 heh. Try using this IWAD Verifier. It can show you what version your doom2.wad really is. Then get the appropriate patch(es). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Purp Posted November 10, 2004 Hey, no-one ever bothered telling me about the IWAD Verifier. I went through loads of trouble patching my IWAD. I DooMed online with 56k dial-up for a year or so and it works, but broadband is a million times better. Dial-up lags way too much. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted November 10, 2004 Raz: Please don't ask for help getting a pirated version of Doom2 to work. The post in which you did so has been deleted. Note that this type of request is a banworthy offence on these forums. The policy will be enforced in the case of any further requests of this type. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Raz Posted November 10, 2004 Yes. I should've guessed that really. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Gruson Posted November 28, 2004 Can we get an updated way of playing? How are you guys doing it? I used to use IDE to find a game but now I get a "Bind to Port" error.....anyone want to help? A lot of the links are down from the 1 page. Thanks 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
CodeImp Posted November 28, 2004 You can find Doom Connector at www.doomconnector.com. The link on the first page is ages old and although I kept that host to mirror, it died like a year ago or something. The other links seem to work fine. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
fodders Posted November 28, 2004 The Doom Connector link is fixed now. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

You've got something else using the same port (a number used to play stuff online), eg. another online game or something. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Purp Posted November 28, 2004 I don't think that should affect outgoing connections. Try just reinstalling csDoom, ZDaemon or Skulltag - whichever you use. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
