NiGHTMARE Posted August 18, 2000 There seems to be a lot of anger in the community at the moment, and I think the reason is because the source ports are attracting lots of newbie 13 year-olds whose parents won't let them play Quake because "it's too violent". Well, to these little kiddies I say "don't worry, you will grow up someday. Maybe you will even have sex. But don't count on it with your atttitude" 0 Share this post Link to post
Shaviro Posted August 18, 2000 Heh. Yeah. But if their parents wont let them play quake as a 13 year old. Then those parent have a problem! 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Kaopectate Posted August 18, 2000 These are the same parents who put protections on web browsers I bet. that makes these little 13-year old newbies think they are kewl because they can hack around Surf Watch and watch their pr0n... 0 Share this post Link to post
stphrz Posted August 18, 2000 Have you seen the forums of other communities like Quake(1,2+3), Unreal etc. IMO they aren't any better or more civilized than the Doom community forums. They seem to be filled with a lot of angry, immature, insensitive people too. Actually in many ways they are really quite a bit worse. 0 Share this post Link to post

bitstate Posted August 18, 2000 Kaopectate said:These are the same parents who put protections on web browsers I bet. that makes these little 13-year old newbies think they are kewl because they can hack around Surf Watch and watch their pr0n... ah surfwatch... my old shool had that when i was there about 6 years ago.. funny enough we found out that if you started the config proggie for it and selected the 'edit preferences' button (or whatever it was called) if you then pressed enter, a dialogue box came out asking for a password, if you then pushed enter again, a new box came out which stated that the password was wrong (...duh! ;o)), in that new dialogue box, the cancel button was selected, so if you pushed enter both dialogue boxes dissapered leaving the main window up, whith the "edit p..." button selected, so if you then held enter down, it would cycle through the different boxes, after some seconds of cykling surfwatch always crashed (memory clogged??) (surfwatch performed an illegal action windows alerted and enabled you to shut surfwhatch down, and everyone was happy, free surfing!) children always find such things out :O) 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest David_A Posted August 18, 2000 Yeah, I guess we can take the Doom Llama off the endangered species list. 0 Share this post Link to post

NiGHTMARE Posted August 19, 2000 Man, things sure have changed. In the old days parents used to go on about protection for sex, now they go on about protection for porn... 0 Share this post Link to post
Tawney Posted August 20, 2000 Actually both are a big issue, especially in the US 0 Share this post Link to post
