No soundFX with winME

I installed winME, and now I can't get soundFX from my doom2 v.1.666. Can anybody help me (and don't suggest to go back to dos6.22, because winME is actually quite good)?? They actually demolished the whole dos-environment from winME. But I want to hear my shotgun!!!

update it to v1.9 from 1.666 it should work, but i would rather get another port like legacy or zdoom

i was the first here to say that winme sux right when ir came out becasue my cousin got it and dos didnt work...well he got it to work, every dos game he owns, i asked him how and he said he just fiddled around with teh settings. this wont help but it may give some the inspiration to find out exactly what settings those were since my 'cuz dont remember
