A necessary evil. A lot of sites (like this one for example) simply could not exist without revenue from advertising. Most people don't have the money to run a large site out of their own
pockets. Server machines, software, high speed bandwidth etc are bloody expensive.

I use a program called AdsOff that blocks all ad banners... It seems to work pretty good, so you might want to check it out. I think it's just www.adsoff.com
