DooMBoy Posted March 3, 2001 I've noticed something in Doom-when you get up to a really high place, the sky overlaps onto itself. And another thing, in ZDoom, whenever you look up at the sky, it "stretches". Any ideas why? Am I tripping or is it because the sky is a flat 2D flat thingy? 0 Share this post Link to post
Ralphis Posted March 3, 2001 The sky is just a texture and in the old doom.exe the sky couldnt be streched to the maximum length, but zdoom has a sky stretch feature found in the display options. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted March 3, 2001 The skies are 128 pixels tall just like every other texture. They figured people would use the skies as skies and nothing else, so you would never look "down" at them that far. ZDoom has a look up/look down feature, so when you look up, it has to fill up that space with sky also. Since it can't just generate graphics, it stretches the other skies to fill in the extra space that is there when you look up. 0 Share this post Link to post
