The cacodemons in doom64

Everytime i play doom64 when i meet the cacodemons they look like the Pain Elemental in doom2?! for me it seems if midway took the design from the Pain Elemental and replaced the old cacodemon look in doom64.i think the cacodemon looks better than the pc version.
