Sheesh, you don't have much luck do you?

Well, Doom95 is a gay piece of crap anyway, it eats a bag of hell. So don't use it. All a port needs to function is doom.wad which you can still access freely from your Doom CD-Rom.

So let's try this.

A) Make a new folder on your desktop, name it Doom.

B) Copy doom.wad from your CD to this folder.

C) Download zDoom from http://zdoom.notgod.com, get the 1.22 version (it should be v1.22 Windows). Once it's downloaded, unzip it into this folder.

D) Double click zdoom.exe to run it and configure it to your liking. Whenever you want to play Doom just run ZDoom instead.

E) If you want to play the Aliens TC on it still, unzip those 3 wad files into this directory too. Now, highlight all 3 of these files, drag them on top of zdoom.exe and let go. That should load all 3 of them.

F) As for your other Windows problem... what color depth is your desktop set at? Sounds like 16, if you can set it to true color instead.

2) Load the frontend + stuff down
3) Go to http://prboom.sourceforge.net
4) Load lastest PrBoom down
5) Install all stuff
6) Generate the database entires you need
7) Fell good and never worry about the things ;-)

Ignore the beta bias, the rather crash-prone v1.22 is very unstable compared to the latest v1.23 beta, 24. It's linked on the news page of the ZDoom site deadnail manages.

deadnail thanks A LOT for helping me out. I had my dad get on here and help with my Windows problem. He doesn't know itxactly what it going on but he fixed some of the problems. The Doom95 I had deleted and couldn't run, well somehow my dad fixed it. So now I have Doom fixed.

I have my Windows on 256 colors. It's just that if I restart it it'll get crazy. When I go to some site like this one on the forums everything is white. When I went to DoomLegacy I couldn't see the links to download Legacy. I had to highlight it to find it.

I'll get that ZDoom and try it out. Also when you told me about those tips for playing Aliens TC I had done everything right, but the problem is after I set everything it goes to the Doom95 window where you set the level, ect. and I guess restarts the wads. Cause I have to select a wad there and I can only select one, even though I did Legacy right.

Well I'm off to try this again. I'll get back to you when I get there and those programs. later.

yes, it's true that Doom95 isn't as useful and having more options as zdoom, but doom95 is very good at playing demos. especially compet-n's demos: www.hszk.bme.hu/~ha211/compet-n

256 colours is way too low, unless your computer is 5 years old?
Right click an empty spot on desktop select properties, then settings and change to higher resolution , try 16 bit
Oh, btw do not worry if desktop goes garbled, it will give you 15 seconds to ensure it works ok before you confirm new display settings, if not, even is screen is blank it will revert to old settings

deadnail I did everything you told me too. Everything. When I run zDoom it puts up the game doom in a small screen. For some reason I can not custom zDoom. Do you know why? I tried the Aliens TC and it worked fine but anytime I play zDoom with just Doom or Aliens it's all distorted. Like the colors are Green, Orange, ect., like it's REALLY messed up. I think this is because of my computer. Any ideas?
