Zeratul 982 Posted May 13, 2001 I can't fix the sound problem. I know that I have to look inside the computer and look for the sound card's info and everything else, but this happens to be my mom's computer and she doesn't trust me getting inside it. She just chewed me up and spitted me out about that today. "The problem isn't the sound drivers, but the games," she says. "If I'm having problems, delete all the games. No exceptions, no complaints, and questions asked," it's like. Maybe I should just reinstall everything, but with no midi support, and I won't have to worry about mmtask or mmsystem errors anymore. Worse yet, maybe I should just do what she says and get rid of everything. I thought of typing out something to www.cirrus.com since the sound card is a Crystal SoundFusion, but they say they "don't manufacture video boards, sound boards, or modems..." (blah, blah, blah). Some help they're going to be. I'm not wanting to say all this, but I have to get it off my chest somehow. 0 Share this post Link to post

Speshul Eddy Posted May 14, 2001 Damn man, I hate that kind of shit. =( I used to use this cracked out P166 that my dad's crazy geek friend threw together, and it had ISSUES. Naturally, my parents, who don't know shit about computers, were real paranoid about anything I did on it. Thankfully, I've got my own machine now, so I don't have to put up with that crap. ^__^ But more to the point, if your computer is HP or Compaq, I've seen some really third-rate sound systems in those. I know a guy whose sound "device" rolls over and dies when he runs anything in DOS (like Doom). If you can, try getting a Creative Labs card in there. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, but those cards have never given me any grief. 0 Share this post Link to post

Zaldron Posted May 14, 2001 Lüt said:...and give the old one to me. But first burn the sound card. You can't imagine how good it feels. In fact, it's so good, that I pretty much destroyed 2 CD drives, a HD, 3 net cards, 2 "3 1/2" drives, a P2-333 CPU, 64 MB RAM and thousands of CD's. 0 Share this post Link to post
ViperBoy Posted May 14, 2001 Hey man ! I don't mean to offend you, but doesn't your mom suck a bit ? I mean, you're a computer geek right ? Don't computer geeks do stuff like this all the time ? She should trust you... what's the worst thing that could happen ? A computer doesn't stop working just because you take a little look-see inside ! 0 Share this post Link to post
