Guest prets Posted October 19, 2000 could anybody tell me what map editor to use with Doom Legacy? I only found all this stuff on ports last friday (and they say Friday 13th is unlucky!!), and i desperately want to get some nice editor to make working on doom worthwhile (not that it wasn't before, but seeing bridges built on doom makes me think about all the crap i generated...) anyway, plz help!!!! 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Phobos-Dwellr Posted October 20, 2000 I'm not sure about this... I don't think Legacy accepts any special little tricks. You should look into ZDoom, it has particle effects, polyobject support, ACS(scripting) support, many new line types, built-in bots(but they could use some work), and lots of other stuff. If you do start using ZDoom, I suggest using Zeth. You could use DeePsea etc. but there is this annoying shareware file size limit. Or you could use WadAuthor, but it was too hard for me to select a sector, so I have settled on Zeth. Aside from the slow screen redraw while scrolling, I love it. Besides, things like the bridges you spoke of are even do-able in the original Doom program(I think). It's about having a certain Thing that isn't affected by gravity... But the Doomworld editing pages will explain everything you need to know. Download all the tutorial material you can, even if you aren't at that level, just so you have it for future reference. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest prets Posted October 20, 2000 i believe dlegacy accepts *most* zdoom stuff,at least the linedefs it does, plus the win9x shell is SO useful for managing iwads (i have all four "standard"- ultimate doom, doom 2, tnt/evilution and plutonia, and play 'em all, so...). nonetheless - zeth u say? already have it, i'll try it in 5 minutes. wish me luck... ps - is there a way to make dck work with all zdoom features? 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest prets Posted October 20, 2000 ok zeth works nicely, i've already gotten the hang of it (after a few minutes! cool heh?) anyway, since my previous post here seems not to have been posted - i dunno why - i shall repeat myself: dlegacy seems to support zdoom nicely (or maybe it's just boom-compatible, and zdoom maps w no scripts work fine - sumthin like that) still, the question remains - how do u build bridges like those in gothic99 map05??????? 0 Share this post Link to post
