Giomancer Posted January 11, 2001 Okay, I'm not asking which one is better, 'cause that'll just cause pointless headbutting... I'm asking what makes them different. As far as I can tell, they are pretty similar, except that the Eternity Engine has a much more solid base to expand from. Gio 0 Share this post Link to post
Jon Posted January 14, 2001 Well erm, perhaps you're right. Eternity is based on SMMU (by uber-coder fraggle) which has similar features to legacy at the base, and something called fragglescript. Eternity is expanding fragglescript in its own direction, and som is porting fragglescript to legacy and making his own modifications in order to accommodate 3d floors and stuff. SMMU has a good variety of rending methods (e.g. it compiles cross-platform well and now supports directx for windows rendering) and a well organised net play, legacy has GL/glide rending modes (of which GL is improving all the time) and other 'beyond doom' enhancements like jumping and decals. 0 Share this post Link to post
