I'm new, is id actually making a new Doom?

Has id confirmed they are making a new Doom, or are the reports and suggestions here just hopeful speculation. I myself would like nothing more than to see a new Doom game, hopefully one to make up for the travesty that was Final Doom.

A new DOOM has been speculated for many years! John Carmack announced on June 1st that there would be a new DOOM. Yes, there will be a new DOOM. It's official. :-b
