What features of Doom should be in Doom3?

I remember the first time I played the downloaded Shareware version of Doom, wandering about those dark gloomy coridoors for the first time is something I'm not gonna forget in a hurry. Doom2 kinda branched out into wide open spaces and arenas, not so scary. So what things of original Doom do people want to see in Doom3, and do you recon iD will bother listening? Personally I prefer loads of not so big monsters in gloomy coridoors, each monster with its own special thing, making each one different to kill, ratherthan just blast the crap out of it with the biggest gun you've got. Any replies would be interesting.

Lots of big scary monsters, plus those background sounds of computers beeping. And the original door opening sounds, they were cool. psshzeeoow!
