things we need to see in Doom3...

For a few weeks now I have read several posts concerning what people would like to see in the next Doom sequel-weapons, monsters, etc. I myself have noted several aspects of the game, which, if properly corrected, would enhance both the experience and the intelligence of the game.
The first thing that comes to mind is the possessed humans. Are they supposed to be flesh dropping zombies or just plain possessed? Were they mauled before being converted or were they just converted? They always looked so perfect. Also, every possessed human you ever saw in Doom was the same. All troopers were white guys with dark blonde marine haircuts. All seargents/officers were white guys with bald heads. All commandos were fat and bearded. ??? I want to see Black humans, Oriental humans, different colored haired humans. Maybe different heights? I hope id gives us some variety to enhance the realism.

Second: If a shoot a guy in the head with a scattergun, is he going to just fall over? Heck no! His head is gonna blow off! And his body is gonna be twitchin'! Hey, you aren't going to kill a guy by shooting him in the leg.

Third: Let's at least make some of these enemies intelligent! If a human spots you, he should radio for help. After all, he seems to have everything else he had before he died. If you are firing at the cyberdemon from through a crack in a wall, the cyberdemon should try to find another way to get to you. Little things like this make the game more interesting.

Fourth: If I were to walk into Hell right now, do you suppose I would find a plasma rifle just sitting around? Or a box of shells, perhaps? Pleeease, id. Give us something new when we get to Hell, like demon weapons or something. Just another thing to add variety.

Last: Let's give something substancial to the levels of Doom. Not just "Find the keys and exit."

Long Live id and Doom!

Do you have any ideas for demon weapons?

Possessed or zombified, I dont know. I think the normal cannon fodder zombiemen are just poor stupid zombies, but on contrary the Heavy Weapon Dudes always seemed different to me, maybe they are possessed?

Ok, now it's time to tear you a new ass.

We don't know what the plot of the story is in the first goddamn place!
The gameplay tells us it's hellish, the story tells us it's sci-fi.

If it were hell anywayz, you'd probably see heretic/hexen style weapons.

Your right about the AI, it needs to be better. But it needs levels of AI that stem even beyond what you've suggested, these would be primarily for the difficulty levels (ultraviolence, nightmare, etc.).

The monsters do need differering skins selected at random for each soldier/monster so you don't feel like your killing the same guy over and over again. Randomizing the heights might be a problem though (more calculations since they are differernt models).

They do need locational damage, but only to an extent - say 2x damage if hit in head, 1/2 damage if hit in extremety. Need to keep gameplay balance and not make it too real (or they would have did that in the first and second ones duh!).

NTM: are these zombies undead, or are they just mind controlled, there is a difference. Undead means you have to either shoot them like 30 times or hafta gib them to get rif of em'. Mind controlled means super intelligent, and tougher than normal humans, but not as tough as undead.

Plasma rifles and other weapons "just sitting around" are left behind by the former carriers of them (marines) that have been slain. That's how they got here. Demons would have no use for them (or demonized artifacts either) because they already have built-in weaponry (baron fireball, cyberdemon missile, etc.).

Levels do need variety, some should be keys&exit, some should involve hubs (very small hubs without as many puzzles as hexen did), and others should involve pick a path (and proceed into another whole section of the game)

As far as I know, all of them are supposed to be DEAD, but possessed, also.. I guess a combination of the two. I think that the game's feel has to be ALL Doom, all classic. I think that id sort of lost it after Quake II. The orriginal Quake was really dark and really simple. That's what I liked about it. It was almost incomplete. It was just the hardcore stuff that's really fun. And so was Doom. I say drop everything, and keep it simple. New graphics are good, just don't turn it into a SHOW, as Unreal was when it was first released. I think it should be more of a "welcome back, it's been a long time" sort of event, rather than making it all flashy and stuff. Know what I mean? I view this game as one for the orriginal fans. Sorta like the Phobos guy in Quake III. I mean, NOBODY knew who that guy was. But, any Doom fan would realize that he was named after one of the moons of Mars in Doom. Yeah.

I always figured the doom zombies were like Evil Dead\Army of Darkness zombies: possesed alive and slowly die from the pain of harbouring a demon.

Seems like I did read that they were already dead... Where, though, I don't know. Oh well. I don't guess it's too important. What do you guys think of my opinion on the feel or look of the game?

Hmmm, Like my face?

I seriously think someone ought to make zdoom skins out of the quake III bot models (phobos, doom, crash, bones, etc). If anyone can actually run quake3, has the tools to do it, and is willing to do it, they should start making some skins (use the shotgun weapon for their hands because it would be cool - in my opinion).

They made skins from quake2, now they should do some from Q3. Id really like to kill a Klesk in doom for a change.
